Chassis, connectors, screen of Asus R415JA-EB260T
With its fine and light light silver frame, it has a sober and elegant look.
It runs on Windows 10S, a security-centric system that only allows the installation of apps from the Windows Store. If desired, we can exit S mode to switch to classic Windows 10.
The connectivity integrated into this Ultrabook is good, including 1 USB-C, a practical HDMI video output for easily connecting this PC to a TV or monitor for example, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.1 wireless modules for connections and remote communications, an audio port but also 2 USBs compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 guaranteeing transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if a USB 3.0 device is plugged into it.
Like any laptop whose format is less than 15 inches, there is no numeric keypad on the right of the keyboard for lack of space.
However, to make it easier to enter numbers, Asus offers its NumberPad (NumPad) technology here. It allows, if necessary, to transform the touchpad into a tactile numeric keypad.
Thanks to its IPS technology, the screen has comfortable viewing angles, both horizontally and vertically. It also lends itself very well to the display of High Definition content such as videos thanks to its precise Full HD definition and its 16: 9 format. Anti-reflective coating, the screen is also more readable than a shiny panel in a bright environment (eg outdoors).
Performance, battery life of Asus R415JA-EB260T
The Asus R415JA-EB260T is a responsive High Definition compact laptop designed for everyday use.
In this area, as in Internet surfing and office automation, the performance it provides is good because it incorporates a good amount of 8 GB RAM as well as an Intel Core i3-1005G1 Turbo low consumption Ice Lake processor.
Like the AMD Ryzen 3, the Intel Core i3s, Turbo or not, show their limits under software requiring processor resources. However, the Core i3 Turbo are significantly more efficient than the non-Turbo Core i3s (Core i3-7xxxU and lower).
The Core i3-1005G1 Turbo Ice Lake houses the Intel UHD 620 graphics part within it. As it is not supported by a dedicated graphics card logically with regard to the positioning of this PC, this Ultrabook is not designed for heavy graphics work like games.
However, thanks to the Intel UHD 620, you can watch photos and videos on this sleek silver laptop.
On the storage side, we find an integrated SSD which has the advantage of being silent but also more robust, less energy-consuming and much faster than a hard drive.
Thanks to the SSD, you benefit from much faster starts / stops and launches of applications, and more generally from better reactivity and fluidity.
With its 256 GB, the SSD offers sufficient capacity for a number of uses but less than the standard of hard disks.
If it turns out to be too tight, we can however use an external storage unit such as a USB 3.0 / USB-C device to benefit from fast transfers.
As for battery life, expect about 5 hours of battery operation in light use for this Ultrabook whose compactness, finesse and lightness facilitate transport.
