New desktop PC / multimedia positioned on the entry level, the HP Pavilion 15-bc307nf advance some points of interest for a price currently set at just over 600 euros . Added to this is a dedicated mid-range graphics card and a matte Full HD screen, not to mention its proper autonomy.

Apart from the more assertive color, the hull of the HP Pavilion 15-bc307nf is similar to the previous generation Pavilion 15-bc. The overall design goes towards sobriety with a completely black case that plays on discrete finishes to stand out. If the lid stays smooth and matte, the frame of the screen sports fine diagonal stripes while the turn of the keyboard is embellished with a brushed effect that does not lack elegance. In addition, HP dressed chiclet keys white outlines on the height but the keyboard does not benefit from backlight, it’s a shame.
Expect that the PC will be able to keep about 6 hours away from an Internet connection with active Wifi. It is satisfactory.
Designed for multimedia use with versatile trend, the claims of the PC are a little braked by its light base. If the low-power Core i5 Kaby Lake allows you to practice many common tasks such as web browsing, video playback, photo editing or work on Office, RAM but especially storage will be limiting factors may slow down its operation. The 6 GB RAM is significantly higher than the standard and will provide enough fluidity to navigate freely in Windows with a small amplitude in multitasking.
The storage on its side consists of a 1 TB hard drive at 5400 rpm. No SSD dedicated to the program therefore, which deprives the PC of a very valuable part of reactivity now. In other words, if you have never worked on a PC with a dedicated SSD, you can accommodate it without problems but others will live with difficulty this back. Note that the capacity is generous and it allows to house a well supplied toy library. Good point, an M.2 slot is normally free to add a SSD thereafter (no maintenance hatch).
Players will be able to rely on the GeForce GTX 950M generation Maxwell. With it, all the titles of the market are accessible on the condition of lowering the definition of the slab on 1366 x 768 px and / or to adjust the level of details on “Medium” to play comfortably on the demanding opuses. The game in Full HD is limited to old titles and / or little greedy.
If the screen is not the most appropriate for players, it will however be a great comfort for office use. Indeed, the definition Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) offers a perfect density to enjoy your High Definition content in the best conditions and to modulate the display without losing sharpness. In addition, the anti-reflective treatment facilitates the readability of the screen in a bright environment. Too bad it is based only on simple TN narrow viewing angles and the average colorimetry.
Finally, the finding is rather disappointing as regards the connection with the lack of USB Type-C and optical drive. There are three USB ports, one of which is still limited by the 2.0 standard, an HDMI output, a Gigabit Ethernet port and an SD card reader. The wireless modules are favored on the other hand with Wifi AC and Bluetooth 4.2 last generation.
