The Acer Swift SF314-52-56MB is installed in a metal shell (lid and inside) with a thin profile of 18 mm and blue color that is out of the ordinary. Acer heals the finishes with a brushed coating that does not lack elegance at the back of the lid and around the keyboard. Note also that the central hinge allows to open the screen to 180 degrees , a plus to install comfortably on the lap. The keyboard is backlit in white and makes typing easier in a dark environment.
The ultrabook can quite hold for 8 hours away from a power outlet, in Internet browsing with active Wifi.
As a mobility tool, the Acer Swift SF314-52-56MB gives pride of place to all office tasks thanks to an honorable heart composed of a Core i5 Kaby Lake and 8 GB of RAM. In practice, this combination offers enough support to support common tools like surfing the web, working on Office, video playback and a little photo editing (without graphic processing pushed). The multitasking is itself favored by the RAM in good quantity.
The dedicated SSD is here to bring a lot of liveliness. This storage solution known for its energy saving, its silence and robustness, is above all a serious partner in terms of responsiveness. With it, Windows will load almost instantly and the launch of different tasks will be less slow. Note that its capacity is far from that of a standard hard drive with its 128 GB. It will therefore make concessions on storage (about 90 GB of free) or opt for an online or external solution.
Without a dedicated graphics card, the ultrabook is not predestined to players. However, the processor- integrated Intel HD 620 chip will still be able to launch some old titles in Full HD, which occasionally entertain some undemanding players.
On the screen side, the Acer Swift SF314-52-56MB hosts a slab edge to edge in favor of design and immersion. Note that Acer abandons the mud deck Confyview to cover the screen with a layer of Gorilla glass , supposed to provide very good impact resistance. Problem, this layer of glass is brilliant and therefore subject to reflections in bright environment, a “detail” that may put some of them off. For the rest, the specifications remain at a very good level with a dense definition Full HD(1920 x 1080 px) and the support of a valuable IPS panel with wide viewing angles and color reproduction more faithful than the TN .
The connection is for its part very correct with four USB ports including a USB 3.0 and a versatile USB Type-C , an SD card reader, an HDMI output and a biometric reader (under the keyboard, right) to secure your data and authenticate to your session with a touch of your finger. The latest generation of the Wifi AC module is also on the menu as well as Bluetooth 4.0.
