The design of the Asus Transformer Mini T103HAF – GR021T is both discreet and elegant. Aesthetically, Asus opts for a smooth shell “Quartz gray” and for a keyboard of the same tone (magnetic hinges). The presence of a retractable support at the back of the tablet is also very valuable. It brings a lot of comfort to use on a desk or on the knees because it supports the screen and allows to adjust the inclination as you see fit (up to 170 degrees). The back of the hull is made of a magnesium alloy and aluminum (hinge included) for a robustness to the test of all displacements. Furthermore, its shape is compact with a tablet of 10 mm ofon the scale with the keyboard. Note that the assembly is excellent with blunt edges and rounded corners that make the tablet very pleasant to use.
Asus announces a range of up to 12 hours. In practice, it should be around 9 to 10 hours in Internet browsing with active WiFi.
The strength of this ultraportable lies in its flexible configuration. Indeed, a magnetic fixing system allows to free the keyboard dock screen for use in tablet mode. It\’s very fun and it allows not to depart from the Windows environment and the comfort of a physical keyboard.
At the center of this architecture, the screen is a pleasant surprise with the support of an IPS panelthat opens the viewing angles and faithfully reproduces the colors. Opposite, it is content with a basic definition that is well adapted to this diagonal screen (1280 x 800 px) with a brilliant treatment (inseparable from the touch) that increases the appearance of reflections in bright environment.
On the performance side, do not expect him to tackle more demanding than routine basic tasks, understand Internet browsing, video playback or light office work. Fortunately, the 4 GB of RAMsupport it to give it a little breath and fluidity.
But the real actor in terms of liveliness is the 128 GB eMMC SSD which will bring a little lightness to the system. While its read / write rates are lower compared to a dedicated SSD, it is far more advanced than a hard drive in this area, in addition to being quieter, more robust and more energy efficient. On the other hand, the capacity of 128 GB will allow you to house a small part of your data in addition to Windows 10 and programs.
As for the connection, it is basic not to say rudimentary. A USB 3.0 port is planned but no trace of the USB Type-C crossed on the T100HA. A micro-HDMI port and a micro-USB (power) are also on the menu, arranged on the side, and a microSD card reader on top, next to the Power button.
