Partner for small versatility, something suitable for students of architecture or web development in particular, the Dell Inspiron 14 5410 is a tool of choice for the mobile user. This 14-inch ultrabook brings together a powerful Core i7 Quad Core-H aided by a dedicated GeForce MX450 graphics card, all backed by fast 1TB SSD storage and 16GB RAM for system speed and dominated by a 100% sRGB Full HD IPS borderless screen. Add to that a few conveniences like the backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, metal body, Thunderbolt 4 or quite compact measurements and you have a companion for your studious outings. Especially since the battery life should reach an honorable total of 7 to 8 hours but we have already seen 14 inches nomad lighter that said.

Chassis, connectors, Dell Inspiron 14 5410 screen
For an Inspiron, the Dell Inspiron 14 5410 inherits a beautiful design with a chassis made of aluminum . The assembly is neat and the design remains very sober, preferring a gray tint (Titant Gray), smooth and matt surfaces and no aesthetic details except the chrome of the logo and on the edge of the touchpad. Needless to say, this ultrabook will go everywhere, in a professional and fun environment.
The keyboard is backlit in white in several shades for easier typing in the dark, and a fingerprint reader takes place at the power button for quick authentication to its session via Windows Hello.
Taking center stage, the 14.0-inch screen cultivates a sense of immersion thanks to an edge-to-edge design and the bright (300 nits) IPS panel that is visible from all angles. We have already seen finer points concerning the borders around the screen but it is average and it allows the webcam to slide up, provided with a shutter for confidentiality. As for the screen itself, the dense Full HD definition (1920 x 1080 px) allows viewing of High Definition content in the best conditions and modulating the display while the anti-reflective treatment limits the impact of ambient light for greater comfort.
The connectors that equip this Inspiron 14 5410 are correctly provided with a versatile and state-of-the-art USB-C 4 Thunderbolt 4 , two USB 3.2 Type-A ports (standard format), an HDMI 1.4 output and a microSD card reader. The wireless modules are entrusted to recent WiFi AX and Bluetooth 5.1.
Dell Inspiron 14 5410 performance, battery life
Inside this Inspiron 14 5410, we don’t have just any processor but an 11th generation Intel Core, the Core i7-11370HQuad Core. This has a high base frequency of 3.3 GHz (compared to 2.4 GHz for the Core i5-10300H) and a high Turbo Boost speed of 4.8 GHz, which makes it perfectly capable of high performance tasks. Its thermal design (TDP) is 35 watts, between the 15W / 28W of low consumption processors and the 45W of “big” processors, it should therefore remain cooler than the latter while offering more power than low consumption. Overall, this results in a management favorable to the versatile use composed of video editing, 3D rendering, programming or parallelization, with advanced calculations, but in slightly more limited measures than a Hexa Core 45W processor obviously.
Opposite, the Dell has good graphics support. Not only does the graphics chip integrated into the processor, an Intel Iris Xe, offer enough for everyday use and a bit of gaming, but it is also assisted by a dedicated GeForce MX450 graphics card.who takes over when a little more resources are needed. This recent card based on the Turing architecture offers roughly 20% more performance than its predecessor, the GeForce MX350, enough to equal or even exceed a GeForce GTX 1050 and allow some quality fun sessions. Be careful though to limit yourself to undemanding titles or failing that, you should not be too careful about the details. We obviously do not reach the level of a Hexa Core / GTX-RTX duo but the support is fair for current use punctuated by some graphics and / or game tasks.
The 16 GB RAM offers the flexibility to multitask your favorite applications. It is precious in 2021, especially since the RAM is welded here and therefore not scalable.
We should also mention the storage entrusted to a dedicated 1 TB SSD , a generous capacity even more commonly lent to hard drives and which allows large multimedia files to be stored without restrictions. The system gains there directly compared to a configuration with mechanical hard disk because of the speed of loading offered by the SSD. This type of storage ensures almost instantaneous switching on and off, transfers calculated in seconds or instantaneous software launches where the mechanical support involved significant latencies. Note also that the SSD is by nature more silent, robust and efficient than a hard drive.
Last characteristic which is important, especially on a 14 inches which is intended to move, battery life should be around 7 hours of operation . It is average.
