HP 14s-dq0007nf Specs and Details

Rather lightweight, compact and with a comfortable range, the HP 14s-dq0007nf is a 14-inch ultrabook equipped to accompany office enthusiasts in their daily lives, and for a low price. It is completed in this pack with a mouse, a satchel and a subscription to Office365 (1 year), enough to constitute the first ideal equipment to a young student for example. Perfectly comfortable with common use (Core i3 Turbo), it enjoys a great responsiveness thanks to fast SSD storage and RAM in good quantity. In addition, its 14-inch screen is surrounded by relatively lateral edges and its autonomy is satisfactory. By cons, the absence of Full HD is regrettable.

The HP 14s-dq0007nf design does not really change from that of its predecessor (HP 14-cf). Housed in a silver-colored polycarbonate shell on the outside and black on the inside, it embellishes the keyboard surround with a light brushed pattern while the lid stays perfectly smooth, dominated by a chrome logo. The screen borders are slightly refined on the sides but we are still quite far from the borderless.

The silhouette of the ultrabook has been slightly reworked, especially at the level of the thickness that loses 2 mm to reach 17.9 mm. The weight is now closer to 1.4 kg on this model without hard drive to encourage mobility.

For its part, the connectivity of the HP 14s-dq0007nf is not more than expected. There is an HDMI output, three USB ports including two USB 3.1 and a USB 3.1 Type-C and an SD card reader. In addition, the wireless modules are recent (Bluetooth 4.2 and Wifi ac) and the Ethernet port is no longer part. The keyboard is not backlit and there is no biometric authentication element (Windows Hello)

The screen also reserves a record could not more standard with its HD definition (1366 x 768 px) and the support of a TN panel with narrow viewing angles and average colorimetry. Its antireflection treatment is welcome however because it will play its share of comfort by countering the reflections to allow working in good conditions in a bright atmosphere.

Performance, autonomy of the HP 14s-dq0007nf

The recent (9th gen) Whiskey Lake processor is the key element in this configuration. It is a low-power Dual Core i3-8145U that significantly improves performance compared to its predecessor (i3-8130U Kaby Lake Refresh) thanks to a higher Turbo Boost frequency (3.9 Ghz). In fact, it aligns with the capabilities of a Core i7-7500U (Kaby Lake), enough to ensure perfect support for common use (Web browsing, Office processing, video) and a mastery of applications a little more greedy like video editing, in reasonable proportions however. The 8 GB RAM ensures comfortable and smooth multitasking.

Another strong point of this HP 14s-dq0007nf, the 256 GB dedicated SSD (NVMe PCIe) guarantees a perfect responsiveness of the system. Overall quieter, more robust, and more energy efficient than a mechanical drive, it allows Windows to achieve a remarkable level of fluidity with short load times and latency-free operation. However, its storage capacity of 256 GB will not be able to contain all of your toy library. It will then turn to an external solution or online to keep available all your archives.

Let\’s end with a notion of autonomy. The HP 14s-dq0007nf should be able to shoot about 6 hours of its 41 Whr battery in web browsing with active WiFi. It\’s in the low average.
