Chassis, connectors, screen of the HP Pavilion 14-ce3003nf

The design of the HP Pavilion 14-ce3003nf is elegant and discreet with an aesthetic that plays on a darker tone (gray) on the cover and on a central chrome logo which dominates a smooth and matte silver base. The back of the cover is covered in metal for extra strength and the rest in polycarbonate / plastic. The silhouette is now angular with protruding edges and the central hinge has been slightly redesigned compared to the previous generation. This will raise the keyboard when opening the cover for typing comfort and good air circulation underneath, a good point.

The keyboard keys are backlit in white to highlight typing. It is very useful for working in all environments, even the darkest.

It is observed that the borders on either side of the screen are refined, which implies an optimized size. The thickness has also gained a few millimeters ( 17.9 mm ) but the weight remains quite impressive for a 14 “without hard disk ( 1.6 kg ). These measurements remain in the average of the category of 14 inch ultrabook.

When opening the ultrabook, we discover a 14-inch screen placed on a micro-edge IPS panel with side edges of a few millimeters. It sports an extended Full HD definition (1920 x 1080 px) which offers all the latitude to enjoy your content in High Definition and to modulate the display of windows on the screen. Comfort is guaranteed thanks to wide viewing angles (IPS), a respected color spectrum and an anti-reflective surface that fights against reflections in a bright environment.

A sufficiently varied connection is distributed on the sides. There are three USB ports including two USB 3.1 and a USB Type-C (Gen1), an HDMI output, an SD card reader and a Gigabit Ethernet port, now rare on 14 inches. Recent Bluetooth 5.0 and Wifi AC modules are also on the menu for fast wireless data exchanges.

Performance, battery life of the HP Pavilion 14-ce3003nf

Storage is front and center as it relies on a fast dedicated 1TB SSD (NVMe PCIe) . The system gains there directly compared to a configuration with mechanical hard drive because of the speed of loading offered by the SSD. This type of storage ensures almost instantaneous switching on and off, transfers calculated in seconds or instantaneous software launches where the mechanical support involved significant latencies. Note also that the SSD is by nature more silent, robust and efficient than a hard drive. And if it is often tackled for its too low storage capacity, this is not the case here since it provides 1 TB, enough to allow the installation of heavy programs and the storage of your entire game library.

The 10th generation Ice Lake processor will propel the ultrabook towards multimedia spheres. It is a low consumption Quad Core i5-1035G1 which gains a few performance points over its predecessors (i5-8565U Whiskey Lake / i5-10210U Comet Lake) thanks to a finer engraving (10 nm). Essentially, it fully supports everyday use (Web browsing, Office processing, video) and masters a few more demanding applications taking advantage of the multicore architecture (video editing, Photoshop, etc.). Opposite, the 8 GB RAM provides a fluid multitasking environment.

The integrated graphics Intel UHD G1 is comparable to an Intel UHD 620 integrated in processors of previous generations. It takes care of graphic tasks related to current use and can even support a few occasional games as long as they are not too demanding.

Finally, let\’s end with a point that will interest nomads, autonomy. Its battery is not huge (41 Whr) but the ultrabook should do with 6 to 7 hours on average in current use .
