The AsusPro B9440UA laptop, the subject of this review, is one of the proposals of the Taiwanese company destined to the business segment of users, who are looking for excellent performance while keeping small dimensions and a very low weight to the bone.
AsusPro B9440UA-GV0005R Review – Features
The AsusPro B9440UA model , belonging to the Ultrabook category, does not lack robustness and speed. The chassis is made of metal and magnesium alloy and complies with the MIL-STD 810G military standard. At sight the design is clean, especially thanks to frames reduced to the bone that leave room for a 14 “display in a form factor that generally accepts 13.3” panels.
The screen resolution is equal to 1920 × 1080 pixels with a 16: 9 aspect ratio and LED backlighting. The finish of the panel is called anti-glare thanks to a matte finish that makes excellent visibility even outside. The quality of the display is undoubted, with warm but not saturated colors and a sharpness guaranteed by the resolution FullHD decidedly adequate.
The only ports on the body are two USB 3.1 Type-C, one of which acts as a charging port, and the headphone jack.
To note the absence of a webcam, a feature now taken for granted that instead lacks on this model, the lack of which however is forgiven by a fingerprint reader precise and fast that speeds up the step of login to Windows 10 Pro.
The back-lit island keyboard is characterized by an excellent solidity of the keys, which thanks to a suitable excursion are able to return excellent feedback during use without slowing down the typing.
The touch-pad, however large, is probably the weak link in the chain, as it returns a strange acceleration of the pointer and in 90% of cases does not recognize multiple touches, making it impossible, for example, the acquisition of a screenshot by the capture tool.
A first peculiarity of this AsusPro B9440UA concerns the hinge and the body: once the display is raised, the lower body and consequently the keypad tilts a few degrees from the supporting surface predisposing itself in a very comfortable way that facilitates typing and facilitates the dissipation leaving space to let air pass through the slit positioned under the body.
Now let’s describe the hardware features, which are more than adequate for the price range in which the product is positioned. In fact, we find an Intel Core i7-7500U processor with 8GB of DDR3L RAM and an integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 graphics card. The storage compartment is powered by a very powerful 512GB SanDisk SSD, while WiFi connectivity supports the 802.11 AC standard and the Bluetooth 4.0.
The goodness of the hardware sector has been demonstrated with the use of tests such as PC Mark 8, 10, 3D Mark and Cinebench R15.
Good also the dissipation system, which showed signs of fatigue only after several hours at full load and with an environmental temperature above 30 degrees. The system has never reached 100 degrees, which is actually very easy to find on such thin products, and despite the several hours of high CPU load, the system has not shown any signs of slowing down.
We also appreciated the speed of the SSD, capable of maintaining fairly good read and write values, thus speeding up the whole system.
The autonomy, another of the strengths of this AsusPro B9440UA , is guaranteed by a 4-cell battery with 48Wh that allows you to work in peace for a whole day. This characteristic denotes the fact that this laptop is intended for a business user who needs a travel and lending computer that does not leave the user after a few hours of use. As if this were not enough, there is also the fast charge that in about half an hour allows you to charge the laptop by 50%.
We tested the autonomy using the PC Mark 8 software, looping the benchmark, setting the maximum brightness, leaving active WiFi connectivity active and setting the energy profile for maximum performance. At this extreme juncture we have obtained 3 hours of autonomy.
It is important to underline that the workload to which this AsusPro has been subjected is much greater than any type of office use. Decreasing the brightness the autonomy increases considerably, allowing us in fact under normal conditions of use to cover the entire working day without the slightest problem.

AsusPro B9440UA-GV0005R – Conclusions
This is a laptop with excellent technical features that lacks some unfortunately fundamental optimizations. For example, the touchpad is almost unusable. Asus should seriously consider rewriting the drivers to update the device and ensure a user experience in line with the rest of the product.
The audio for example is nothing short of spectacular, with deep bass, high volume and never crippled. The screen is excellent thanks to an external visibility without comparisons and a color calibration that makes it pleasant in any area of use.
The system is then compact and light but at the same time solid, but lacks the lack of a webcam, an SD player and trivially a common USB port. The Type-C ports, however fast and innovative, are positioned near the lower edges of the monitor, making it impossible to use USB or peripherals slightly wider than normal, a banal Type-C adapter> USB, in fact, touches the surface on the which the laptop is resting on.
The hardware compartment is balanced and ensures excellent performance for any type of use on the move. The battery is very good and ensures several hours of continuous operation even under high stress conditions.
Overall we are faced with a good product, which once solved the problems with the touchpad, can be safely recommended as a valid purchase.
We thank Asus for the sample provided for this review.
