Chassis, connectors, Dell Inspiron 14 5490 screen
It has a sober and elegant look with its thin and light light silver frame.
The Windows 10S system is installed, security-oriented edition because it only allows installation from the Windows Store. However, if desired, you can exit S mode to migrate to classic Windows 10.
This Ultrabook has a good connection composed of 1 USB 3.1 Type-C, a practical HDMI video output for easy connection to a TV or a monitor for example, wireless Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.2 modules for remote connections and communications, an audio port or even 3 USBs (all compatible with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0), USB 3.0 guaranteeing transfers taking place up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if you plug in USB 3.0 devices.
You can authenticate by fingerprint recognition via Windows Hello technology thanks to the integrated biometric reader.
A rare feature at this price level, a backlighting solution is fitted to the chiclet keyboard, which is very practical to distinguish them in the event of reduced ambient light.
The screen will appeal to lovers of High Definition content such as videos because it adopts a precise Full HD definition higher than the 1366×768 standard and a 16: 9 format. In addition, it is anti-reflective which makes it more readable than a shiny panel in a bright environment (eg outdoors).
Dell Inspiron 14 5490 performance, battery life
This Dell Inspiron 14 5490 is a compact and lightweight High Definition laptop designed for everyday use on the go.
Thanks to its compactness, finesse and lightness, this elegant silver Ultrabook is easy to carry. It will be of particular interest to nomads as it can last around 12 hours of battery operation in light use!
It delivers good multitasking services that are not too extensive and in everyday use, such as office automation and surfing the Internet. Because it incorporates 4 GB of RAM – which can be increased by adding a RAM bar on the free DDR4 slot to be more comfortable in multitasking. But also a low-power Comet Lake Core i3-10110U Turbo processor.
Like all Intel Core i3s and AMD Ryzen 3s, the Core i3-10110U Turbo shows its limits under CPU-intensive software.
However, the Core i3 Turbo have the advantage of being significantly faster than the non-Turbo Core i3s (Core i3-7xxxU and lower).
Logically given its positioning, this Ultrabook does not have a dedicated graphics card. It is therefore not designed for heavy graphics work such as games. However, thanks to the Intel UHD 620 graphics part integrated into the Core i3 Turbo Comet Lake, you can of course watch photos and videos on this thin and light laptop PC.
The responsiveness of this Ultrabook is reinforced by its SSD storage because it is much faster than a hard drive but also less energy, more resistant to shocks and silent.

Concretely thanks to the SSD, this laptop is significantly more fluid and responsive on a daily basis than with a simple hard drive. This implies, for example, much faster application launches as well as starts / stops.
It is a 256 GB SSD that we find here more precisely integrated. If this capacity is sufficient for a number of uses, it is below the standard of hard disks.
But of course, one can always appeal to an external storage unit like a USB 3.0 device to achieve fast transfers.
