While most PC manufacturers have announced their new gaming gamers for 2020 (see what’s new at Acer , Asus , MSI , Lenovo ), HP is still desired. But that was before the leak spotted by u / Sil3ncedsw0rd on the UK store of HP which briefly published two references of an HP Omen 15-en0xxx. In addition to a completely redesigned look, the 15 inch features AMD Renoir 4000 series processors coupled to GTX 1660 Ti and RTX 2060.
The first and most obvious transformation concerns design. Indeed, HP gives the Omen 15 a complete makeover compared to the 2019 Omen 15 (below on the right). The exact dimensions are unknown, but the 2020 model appears to have a slim, light design. It has thin borders and a theme in “aluminum silver mica”. The list did not reveal any specifications for the display, however, the manufacturer announced that the device offers fast display with AMD FreeSync (AdaptiveSync).
As the trend wants, the design is in search of sobriety. The red Omen logo under the screen disappears in favor of the brand, written white on black. We also observe that HP has kept the keyboard with four configurable RGB lighting zones but that it seems to abandon the numeric keypad present on the previous Omen 15, it is unfortunate for enthusiasts of Excel. However, the new model should come with an expanded touchpad, speakers from Bang & Olufsen and an integrated webcam with a viewing angle of 88 degrees.
The Omen 15 listed on the store, the HP Omen 15-en0008na, is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H Octo Core processor (2.9 GHz / 4.2 GHz) and a dedicated graphics card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6 Go GDDR6 Turing. This combination should be enough to boost high frame rates and provide a pleasant Ray Tracing experience in Full HD (on compatible games). The duo is assisted by 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) of DDR4-3200 RAM and a 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. HP has apparently implemented easy access to both components for quick maintenance. Note that another reference was also present on the store, the HP Omen 15-en0006na, presenting the same specs but a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti as a graphics solution.
HP’s Omen Tempest cooling solution is apparently responsible for cooling the components. According to information listed by HP and deleted since, the Omen 15 will take advantage of a three-sided ventilation design with a five-way air circulation system.
In addition, we observe that the connectivity is abundant. The specs indicate that the laptop comes with Wi-Fi 6 (2×2) connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0. An Ethernet port is also present. The visuals provided on the store also allow us to confirm the presence of an HDMI port and a Mini DisplayPort output to connect external screens. A USB Type-C port and three USB Type-A ports also seem to respond, as well as a headphone jack and a card reader.
Finally, the HP Omen 15-en0008na was displayed at £ 1,199.99 (US $ 1,493) and the HP Omen 15-en0006na at £ 1,100. No idea of availability at the moment.
