From a design point of view, the Acer Aspire A315-41-R8AV exudes simplicity with an all-black hull. Good point, Acer heals the finishes with a subtle brushed coating on the back of the lid and on the keyboard surround. Note also the presence of a keypad, where more and more than 15 inches prefer to remove it to compact the chassis. In this regard, its measurements are rather generous with 24.9 mm thick and 2.3 kg on the scale. We have already seen more compact.
Unsurprisingly, the keyboard is not backlit and the touchpad is clickable but the chassis has the advantage of providing two maintenance hatches to upgrade storage and RAM. In addition, its screen opens flat (up to a 180 degree angle ), a plus to put it comfortably on your lap.
The autonomy should painfully reach 5 hours in Internet browsing with active WiFi is in the low average.
In its configuration, it is unequivocally the APU processor that holds the most attention. Indeed, the architecture of the PC is entrusted to the latest generation of AMD Raven Ridge processor , very little crossed on the market with the predominance of Intel configurations. Here, the Ryzen 3 2200U Dual Core is at work, supported by 4 GB of RAM and it provides what ensure a quality office operation. Tasks like video playback, surfing the Internet, or the Office suite are well supported, as is light editing (Photoshop).
However, the RAM in place will not leave much room for multitasking. We can not recommend too much to add a bar in the free slot available under the trapdoor.
It is the same for storage in place, entrusted to a 1TB hard drive. It provides a generous storage space to house all your toy library but the lack of dedicated SSD weighs in the system responsiveness. In short, if you have never worked on a machine equipped with a SSD, you can accommodate but the others should suffer the latencies imposed by the HDD. Again, the addition of a SSD extra is facilitated by the hatch and highly recommended.
The graphic part is entrusted to the AMD Radeon RX Vega 3 chip integrated into the processor. This one is not armed to satisfy the players but will still be able to launch some undemanding titles on the native definition of the HD tile (1366 x 768 px) with a level of details mastered.
Speaking of the screen, it is all that is more basic. The definition is standard (1366 x 768 px), the glossy treatment and the TN type slab. Result, reflections may appear if you work in a very bright environment (back to a window), the angles of vision are narrow and the colorimetry not very faithful. On the other hand, the brilliant slab is an aesthetic argument for some.
To finish on the connection, it is not in the novelty. There is an SD card reader, an HDMI output and three USB ports including a USB 3.0. To promote data transfer, Gigabit Ethernet and recent modules Wifi AC and Bluetooth 4.0 are also involved.
