Small price for this large format laptop PC. The Acer Aspire 3 A317-32-C442 can count on a fast SSD storage capacity not ridiculous (256 GB) and on a recent Celeron N4020 processor quite capable of coping with everyday work (browsing, streaming …) , supported by 4 GB of RAM. Its black case is sober and contains a numeric keypad as well as essential connections. Of course, he should not be expected to do greedy tasks and he intends to stay on a desk given its size.

The Acer Aspire A317-32-C442 favors the sobriety of an entirely matt black shell without any design element other than the stitched finish on the edges. The set gains in elegance thanks to a rather refined silhouette (24 mm). Note also the presence of a numeric keypad in a fairly compact keyboard (probably the same as on the 15 inches). Unsurprisingly, the keyboard is not backlit and the touchpad is clickable.
Around the screen, Acer did not try to refine the black frame, which does not detract from the charm of the PC in our opinion. We discover a screen with basic specifications: a standard definition (1600 x 900 px) and the support of a TN panel leading to narrow viewing angles. We are dealing with a shiny CineCrystal panel whose rendering is more flattering than a matt panel in terms of the image but which will be subject to reflections.
Now let’s talk about the connection which is not in the latest fashion, even if this can have an advantage, we think in particular of the CD / DVD burner still appreciated by many users. On the program at his side, an HDMI output, two USB ports still limited to the 2.0 standard and a USB 3.2 port. No USB Type-C port or fingerprint reader provided. Note however that the wireless modules are recent (Wifi AC and Bluetooth 4.2) and that the PC also has a Gigabit Ethernet port for the wired connection.
Performance, battery life of the Acer Aspire 3 A317-32-C442
In its configuration, the component that stands out is to be found in the storage department with the dedicated 256 GB SSD which gives pride of place to responsiveness. This allows to bring its share of fluidity to Windows 10 and to the overall execution of the programs while not sacrificing too much capacity. If we count the space occupied by the system and by the programs, there is about 200 GB of free space, enough to house a small part of your game library. For the rest, you will have to opt for an external or online solution.
This is all the more valuable as the Aspire only has 4 GB of RAM to support the Celeron Dual Core N4020 Gemini Lake Refresh. It’s limited if you are adept at reactive multitasking. For its part, the small processor delivers sufficient performance to run all common tasks (Internet surfing, office tools, video playback) without limitation as long as one is satisfied with its uses. We remain in the category of mobile processors. You should therefore not try to be more demanding under penalty of encountering some latencies.
In addition, there is no point in hoping to play with this laptop PC since the UHD 600 chip integrated into the processor is simply no match. No problem for anything that has to do with everyday use, however, such as playing videos or viewing complex web pages.
Finally, the battery life should painfully flirt with the 5 hours of Internet browsing with active Wifi, it is in the low average.
