Acer Aspire A515-54-58N0 Specs and Details

Do you want responsiveness? The Acer Aspire A515-54-58N0 has a lot to spare with its 16 GB of RAM and its fast SSD storage of good capacity! Its case sports the proportions of an ultrabook and hides a 10th generation Quad Core i5 low consumption to surf and work without clutter, all the more with such support from RAM and storage, in favor of speed system and efficiency. The Full HD screen is beneficial for moviegoers although based on a TN panel and the connection is not very varied except for the precious addition of Wifi 6.

Chassis, connectors, screen of the Acer Aspire A515-54-58N0

The silhouette of the Aspire 5 does not change compared to its predecessor. Acer always dresses it in a slightly rough matte black color, quite basic. The case is shaped with plastic and a little aluminum to reinforce the back of the cover and the base of the keys. Suddenly, it gains robustness during transport and over time.

Its format fits into the circle of ultrabooks but is not the best optimized in this sense with 18 mm thick and a format 363 x 250 mm. Its weight is fixed around 1.8 kg . It is not the lightest in the segment but it is still better than the 2.2 kg of the previous Aspire 5.

It does not appear that the keyboard is backlit on this model.

In the center of this Acer Aspire A515-54-58N0 also shines a beautiful Full HD mat screen with rather thin side edges (7 mm). The Full HD definition (1920 x 1080 px) offers an extended display space allowing you to fully enjoy the High Definition content (video, game) while the Confyview matte panel will prevent ambient light from being reflected on the screen. On the other hand, the screen is probably based on a TN panel whose approach angles are reduced and the colorimetry not very realistic.

The sides are equipped with a fairly standard connection with four USB ports which still include a USB 2.0, two USB 3.1 and a USB Type-C . There is also an HDMI output and a Gigabit Ethernet port while the modules take advantage of the latest Wifi AX (Wifi 6) and Bluetooth 5.0. Note that the card reader has disappeared and that the fingerprint reader does not appear on the menu either.

Performances, autonomy of the Acer Aspire A515-54-58N0

Inside this Aspire 5, we find a heart powered by a 10th generation processor (2019) Comet Lake Core i5-10210U. The gain is not significant compared to the Core i5-8265U of 9th generation, nor even perceptible in practice if it is not during the somewhat advanced calculation phases on which you could scratch a few seconds of execution. Anyway, the A515-54-58N0 covers all of current use (Web browsing, Office processing, video) with a fairly advanced mastery in more demanding applications using the multicore architecture ( video editing, light Photoshop …). Attention, we are on low consumption (TDP 15W) and not on powerful processors type -H with a TDP 45W. In fact, if you try CPU-intensive tasks, you will face more or less harmful latencies, even if with 16 GB of RAMbehind it, the system will be able to enjoy perfect fluidity in multitasking , even if you multiply the number of tabs and active applications at the same time.

There is no dedicated graphics card for this model, which automatically limits it on the game and graphics jobs a little greedy. Despite everything, the support of the Intel UHD 620 chip integrated in the processor is sufficient for current use and to launch some undemanding titles since it is put at the same level as a dedicated GeForce MX110.

Opposite, the storage is entrusted to an M.2 NVMe PCIe 512 GB SSD which will bring a welcome dose of responsiveness to the system. Compared to a standard mechanical hard drive, it is quieter, more robust and energy efficient and allows Windows to reach a remarkable level of fluidity with short loading times and execution without latencies. What is more, its capacity is not ridiculous and can accommodate a good part of your toy library even if some may not find it sufficient.

Let’s finish with a notion of autonomy which benefits from this declination of a 48 Whr battery. Acer announces more than 9 hours but given the limited capacity of the battery, it is more realistic to expect a total of 6 hours in Internet browsing with active Wifi.
