Geared up for productivity in a blue case awakened by a blue-green hinge, the Acer Swift 3X SF314-510G-54UM is a resourceful 14-inch ultrabook. It concentrates a good level of power thanks to its 11th gen quad-core Core i5. combined with an Intel Iris Xe Max graphics card to be comfortable in multimedia, as well as a nice system responsiveness enabled by the 16 GB RAM and the dedicated 512 GB SSD, a perfect package for working and entertaining at home. daily. The imaging is entrusted to a 14-inch matte IPS screen slipped into a silver frame weighing 1.4 kg. The keyboard is comfortable and backlit, the fingerprint reader ensures the Windows Hello connection, the battery life reaches 10 hours and the look is neat but some could blame it for its rather dark screen that said.

Chassis, connectors, screen of the Acer Swift 3X SF314-510G-54UM
No doubt, we are dealing with a Swift. Acer maintains the series identity with a sober and uniform silver aesthetic around a pressure- and scuff – resistant aluminum-magnesium alloy case that is lightweight at the same time. On this Swift 3X, Acer opts for a rather original design with a blue frame and a blue-green hinge that can only be seen from the back of the PC. It’s discreet and at the same time, it’s out of the ordinary.
In terms of format, we are no longer in the race for millimeters. Acer seems to have made the right choice to significantly enlarge the chassis of its Swift 3X to make the components more comfortable. The weight climbs to 1.4 kg, which is still quite adequate for a 14-inch multimedia, and the thickness is 17.9 mm. Here again, we stay in well-optimized measurements for a 14-inch that wants to be nomadic.
The keyboard is backlit in white, making it easier to type in a dark environment. A fingerprint reader takes place at the bottom right of the chassis, isolated from the keyboard and touchpad. It is a practical positioning but not necessarily aesthetic.
Then let’s talk about the screen which is highlighted by rather thin side borders (thicker at the top and bottom). It provides a dense Full HD definition (1920 x 1080 px) which allows you to get the best of High Definition content while the IPS panel promotes immersion with a perfectly readable display whatever the angle of approach and a balanced colorimetry. Good news, it is based on a ComfyView matte panel , a plus if you have to work outdoors or travel by train for example. Note that the screen is not very bright (approximately 230nits).
For its part, the connection receives a slight cut. There are no longer four but now three USB ports including two USB 3.2 ports and a versatile USB 3.2 Type-C Gen2 . The latter is obviously not Thunderbolt compatible. There is also an HDMI output and that’s it. The connection modules are state-of-the-art with Wifi 6 (802.11AX) and Bluetooth 5.0.
Performance, battery life of the Acer Swift 3X SF314-510G-54UM
Inside, this 14-inch can count on a Core i5-1135G7 processor11th generation Tiger Lake which brings some interesting advancements, starting with a higher TDP. Thus, the Core i5-1135G7 of our Swift displays a TDP of 28W where its predecessors, the Core i5-1035G4 and the Core i5-10210U are satisfied with a TDP of 15W. This leads to a fairly visible increase in performance on advanced software (Lightroom, Capture One Pro, Davinci Resolve, 7Zip, etc.), a little less on basic everyday tasks (Office, surfing the Web, streaming …) . We understand, these tasks in question are perfectly taken care of by the ultrabook, but since these are missions that only commit very few resources, the difference between the generations is not noticeable. And then keep in mind that we still have a low-power Core i5 in front of you, therefore not enough to provide intensive performance in creation as would non-low consumption processors (-H). In front, the RAM provides 16 GB of RAM , a generous total that ensures impeccable fluidity in multitasking. Namely that the RAM is welded and therefore not upgradeable on this device, so it is welcome.
But the most interesting novelty here is the integration of the first dedicated graphics card from Intel, the Intel Iris Xe Max DG1. Our Swift 3X SF314-510G-54UM is one of the first laptops equipped in France and this graphics card still deserves a few passages in the benchs to reveal its capabilities. We can already position it at the level or even above those of an NVIDIA GeForce MX350, enough to offer the possibility of playing many games in 1080p in good conditions and to work on tasks that require quite a bit of graphics power. (Lightroom) without delay. And of course, when the requested work is not too demanding graphically, the system switches to the chip integrated into the Iris Xe processor which, as it is, is already well capable of supporting current use and a little play.
For its part, the storage is entrusted to a 512 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD which will bring a welcome dose of responsiveness to the system. Compared to a standard mechanical hard drive, is is quieter, more robust and energy efficient, and allows Windows to achieve remarkable smoothness with short load times and zero latency execution. What’s more, its capacity is nothing short of ridiculous and can accommodate a good chunk of your game library although some may not find it sufficient.
Last important point for nomads, the Acer Swift 3X SF314-510G-54UM is ready for mobility thanks to its 58Whr battery which allows nearly 10 hours of battery life in current use with active WiFi. This is ideal for working a whole day without worrying about the proximity of a power outlet.
