Fine, lightweight and enduring, the Acer Swift SF314-56-52NK has everything to accompany the nomads. This 14-inch ultrabook packs the power and responsiveness of the system for productive office productivity and delivers significant benefits in a chassis as thin as 18mm. The keyboard is comfortable and backlit, the look and the comfortable autonomy (9 to 10h) but the brightness of the screen is poor.

Chassis, connectivity, screen of the Acer Swift 3 SF314-56-52NK
New version of the Swift 3, the Acer SF314-56-52NK is actually a simple hardware update of the Swift SF314-54 (nothing to do with the new design of the Swift 3 SF314-55 so … do not try to understand). It takes its chassis and aesthetics despite a slight thinning that is worth it to go from 18.7 mm to 17.95 mm thick.
For the rest, we find this same metal case with a brushed effect on the back of the lid and inside and dressed in a consensual silver color . Polished chamfered edges highlight the lid, base, touchpad and biometric reader to serve the look. Note also that the central hinge allows to open the screen 180 degrees , a plus to install comfortably on the lap. The keyboard is backlit in white and makes typing easier in a dark environment.
The format of the ultrabook is well optimized also with a weight around 1.45 kg and a well optimized size (323 x 228 mm) which allows to enjoy a borderless screen rather convincing.
Let’s talk about the screen which is greatly enhanced by the 6.3 mm side edges . It provides a dense Full HD definition (1920 x 1080 px) that allows you to make the most of High Definition content while the IPS panel favors immersion with a perfectly readable display regardless of the angle of approach and a balanced colorimetry. Good news, Acer abandons the layer of Gorilla glass installed on the previous Swift 3 SF314-52 and puts back into service its matt ComfyView slab . A plus if you have to work outside or to move by train for example.
For its part, the connector accepts all the necessary in standard formats. There are four USB ports including a USB 3.0 and a versatile USB Type-C , an SD card reader, an HDMI output and a biometric reader (under the keyboard, right) to secure your data and authenticate to your session with a simple touch of the finger. Wifi AC and Bluetooth 4.0 modules are also on the menu.
Performance, autonomy of the Acer Swift 3 SF314-56-52NK
This ultrabook is also characterized by its powerful heart. The latest-generation Whiskey Lake i5-8265U Quad Core i5-8265U processor (9th) will significantly outperform the Kaby Lake Refresh (i5-8250U) generation with higher Turbo Boost frequency (3.9 Ghz) and a finer engraving. In fact, the PC will take care of the current use (Web browsing, Office processing, video) and show a sharp mastery in more greedy applications, requiring multicore architecture (video editing, Photoshop pushed, Lightroom …) . In addition, the 8 GB RAM is present in satisfactory quantity to ensure a fluid multitasking environment .
Storage is another highlight on this Acer Swift 3 SF314-56-52NK. It is entrusted to a 256 GB NVMe PCIe SSD which will significantly increase the overall responsiveness of the system on a daily basis. Based on a PCIe interface faster than SATA3, the SSD provides shortened load times, a virtually instantaneous Windows launch and very fast file copies. Only downside, its capacity will quickly prove to be insufficient if you wish to archive heavy files or games. Be aware that a 2.5-inch slot is logically free inside to install a second SSD or a larger hard drive.
Finally, autonomy is not left behind and makes the most of the battery (48 Whr) with a total close to 9 hours in Internet browsing with active WiFi. It’s very honest and wise for a PC whose primary purpose is mobility.
