This versatile Ultrabook is properly equipped in terms of connectivity with its USB-C, its Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.1 modules for wireless remote connections and communications, its audio port, its convenient HDMI video output to easily connect it to a TV or monitor for example as well as its 3 USB all compatible USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 guarantees transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if a USB 3.0 device is plugged into it.
Thanks to its IPS technology, the screen has significant vertical and horizontal viewing angles. However, its colorimetry is average, below that of more high-end IPS panels, which makes sense with regard to the positioning of this computer. The screen lends itself in any case very well to the display of videos and more broadly of High Definition content because it adopts a 16/9th format associated with a precise Full HD definition. As it is anti-reflective, the screen is also more readable in bright environments (e.g. outside) than a shiny slab.
Performance, battery life of the Asus R515EA-BQ2041W
The Asus R515EA-BQ2041W is a thin and light 15-inch High Definition laptop intended for common versatile use.
The overall performance it provides is able to satisfy many users because it is built around 8 GB of RAM as well as a quad Core i5-1135G7 low-power Intel Tiger Lake processor.
In addition, the latter directly houses the iris Xe graphic part (tested by us) thanks to which you can watch photos and videos but also play modest titles.
On the storage side, there is an Intel H10 hybrid solution (which we tested) combining an SSD part with a 32 GB Optane module.
If the contribution of Optane is significant when it is associated with a hard disk to provide services close to an SSD, its contribution is not very sensitive coupled with an SSD. It should also be remembered that Optane differs from an SSD in that it cannot be used for storage and software installation.
The fact remains that Optane H10 brings the advantages of an SSD by being silent, less energy-consuming than a hard disk but also more robust and much faster.
Concretely thanks to Optane H10, the starts/stops, processing and launches of applications are much faster than with a hard disk and we reach for example faster on the cards of online games.
With its 512 GB, the SSD here integrated offers a capacity similar to the standard of hard drives. However, in the event that more space is needed, you can obviously use an external storage unit. Opting for a USB 3.0/USB-C device is then an interesting solution to get fast transfers.
As for the autonomy, bet on about 5 hours on battery in light use for this Ultrabook whose contained weight and finesse facilitate transport.
