Chassis, connectors, screen of the Asus VivoBook 14 S1400EA-EK1676W
Thanks to its thin and light black design, this versatile laptop sports a discreet appearance.
It is equipped with good connectivity including 1 USB-C, a convenient HDMI video output to easily connect it to a TV or monitor for example, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.1 modules for wireless remote connections and communications, an audio port or 3 USB all compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 guaranteeing transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if you connect a device USB 3.0.
Those who regularly enter numbers will be delighted that Asus offers here its NumPad (NumberPad) technology that once activated turns the touchpad into a touchpad.
As a reminder, all laptops with a format of less than 15 inches are devoid of physical numeric keypad due to lack of space on the right.
Thanks to its 16:9 aspect ratio and its precise Full HD definition, the screen is well suited to the display of videos and more broadly High Definition content. As it is anti-reflective, the screen is also more readable than a shiny slab in a bright environment (e.g. outdoors).
Performance, autonomy of the Asus VivoBook 14 S1400EA-EK1676W
The Asus VivoBook 14 S1400EA-EK1676W is a compact High Definition laptop designed for everyday versatile use.
It has a silent SSD storage but also less energy consuming than a hard drive, more robust and much faster.
In practice, the SSD guarantees a much better responsiveness and fluidity on a daily basis than a simple hard disk, which implies, for example, much faster start/stop and application launches, or a faster arrival on the cards of online games.
While no dedicated graphics card is embedded, we had indeed watched photos and videos but also indulged in light games thanks to the Intel UHD G4 graphics module integrated into the processor.
The latter is a low-power Intel Tiger Lake Core i3-1115G4. It is coupled here with 8 GB of RAM to provide good performance in common use, such as office automation and Internet surfing.
Keep in mind, however, that under CPU-intensive software the Core i3-1115G4 reveals its limits like AMD Ryzen 3 and less powerful processors obviously.
What about storage capacity? It is a 512 GB SSD that is proposed here, which represents the standard among hard drives. We cannot expect better at this price level. However, if you need more space, you can add a second SSD or a hard drive via the free 2.5-inch slot. Or use an external storage unit such as a USB-C/USB 3.0 device for fast transfers.
As for the autonomy of this versatile Ultrabook whose transport is facilitated by lightness, compactness and finesse, count on about 5 hours on battery in light use.
