Chassis, connectors, screen of the Asus Vivobook R515JA-EJ159T
With its thin and light transparent silver case that rises forward when opened, it has a sober and elegant appearance.
This Ultrabook has a good connection including 1 USB-C, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.1 wireless modules for remote connections and communications, a practical HDMI video output for easy connection to a TV or monitor via example, an audio port but also 2 USB compatible USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 guaranteeing transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if a USB 3.0 device is plugged into it.
A priori, the chiclet keyboard is not equipped with a backlighting system, which is a shame.
In any case, the screen lends itself well to displaying videos and more generally High Definition content thanks to its 16: 9 format and precise Full HD definition. As it is anti-reflective, the screen is also more readable in a bright environment (eg outside) than a shiny panel. Thanks to its IPS technology, the screen also benefits from significant viewing angles, both horizontal and vertical, but its colorimetry is average, below that of more high-end IPS panels.
Performance, battery life of Asus Vivobook R515JA-EJ159T
The Asus Vivobook R515JA-EJ159T is a thin and light 15-inch High Definition laptop designed for everyday general-purpose use.
Good, the general performance it delivers is able to satisfy many users because it relies on a good amount of 16 GB RAM above average as well as a Quad Core i7-1065G7 processor that we tested , low consumption Ice Lake model.
The latter has the particularity of integrating the Intel Iris Plus G7 graphics solution. However, it is significantly more efficient than the standard Intel UHD 620.
Concretely, thanks to the Iris Plus G7, we can look at photos and videos of course but also play titles that do not require too much graphic resources.
That being said, if the goal is to often perform work that consumes processor and / or graphics resources, it is preferable to opt for a PC equipped with a non-low consumption processor and / or an adequate dedicated graphics card.
In any case, reactivity is essential on this elegant silver Ultrabook thanks to the heart but also to the onboard SSD storage. As a reminder, an SSD is silent but also less energy consuming than a hard drive, more robust and much faster.
In practice, thanks to the SSD, we take advantage of much faster starts / stops than with a hard drive, just like the processing and launching of applications, or even a faster arrival on the cards of online games.
With its 512 GB, the on-board SSD offers a capacity in phase with the standard of hard disks. If this turns out to be too fair, an external storage unit such as a USB-C / USB 3.0 device can be used to obtain fast transfers.
As for the battery life of this Ultrabook whose thinness and weight content facilitate transport, bet on about 5 hours of battery operation in light use.
