Chassis, connectors, screen of the Asus VivoBook S15 S533EA-BQ1708W
This versatile laptop that can be recharged to 60% in 49 minutes sports an elegant and discreet look with its thin and light silver aluminum chassis with white shell.
It is cooled by 2 fans (87 thin 0.2mm crystal-liquid polymer blades) and air vents. In addition, it offers 3 predefined operating modes: Performance (power), Balanced (balanced) and Whisper (silent, thrifty).
This Ultrabook has a good connectivity including 1 USB-C, Wi-Fi ax modules(newer and more powerful than Wi-Fi ac)and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless remote connections and communications, an audio port, a convenient HDMI video output to easily connect it to a TV or monitor for example or 3 USB all compatible USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 guarantees transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if a USB 3.0 device is connected to it.
The chiclet keyboard incorporates an Entry key cut from yellow which brings originality. It can be backlit which is very convenient so that you can better discern its keys in case of reduced ambient light.
Thanks to its IPS technology, the screen has significant viewing angles, both horizontal and vertical. Its colorimetry is however average, lower than that of more high-end IPS panels. In addition, the screen lends itself well to the display of videos and more generally High Definition content because it adopts a 16/9th format associated with a precise Full HD definition. As it is anti-reflective, the screen is also more readable than a shiny slab in a bright environment (e.g. outside).
Performance, battery life of the Asus VivoBook S15 S533EA-BQ1708W
The Asus VivoBook S15 S533EA-BQ1708W is a thin and light 15-inch High Definition laptop intended for versatile use on the go.
It relies on a low-power Quad Core i5-1135G7 Intel Tiger Lake processor coupled with 8 GB of RAM to provide good overall performance that can suit many users.
In addition, thanks to the Intel Iris Xe graphics solution (tested by us) housed in the Quad Core i5-1135G7 processor, you can
watch photos and videos but also run games that are not too greedy in 3D resources. It must be said that the Iris Xe is significantly more powerful than the classic Intel UHD 620.
To often perform work demanding in processor and / or graphics resources, however, it is better to turn instead to a PC with a non-low-power processor and / or an adequate dedicated graphics card.
On the storage side, there is an SSD with a capacity of 512 GB corresponding to the standard among hard drives. As a bonus compared to the latter, an SSD is quiet, more robust, less energy-consuming and much faster.
In practice, the SSD guarantees a much better fluidity and responsiveness on a daily basis than a simple hard disk. Thanks to the SSD, we obtain, for example, much faster software launches, processing and starts/stops, or a faster arrival on the maps of online games.
Of course in the event that you need more than 512 GB, you can use an external storage unit. Favoring a USB-C/USB 3.0 device is then an interesting option to enjoy fast transfers.
As for the autonomy of this versatile Ultrabook whose transport is facilitated by the controlled weight and finesse, count on about 6 hours of operation on battery in light use.
