This laptop integrates a good connectivity including 1 USB-C, a practical HDMI video output to easily connect it to a monitor or TV for example, Wi-Fi 5 ac and Bluetooth 4.1 wireless modules for connections and communications, an audio port or 3 USB including 2 USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) guaranteeing transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if you plug in USB devices 3.0 are connected to it.
It’s a shame, however, not to find Wi-Fi 6 ax, which is more recent and powerful than Wi-Fi ac. Nor a chiclet keyboard backlight solution.
On the other hand, the most privacy-conscious will appreciate being able to slide a physical cover in front of the webcam when they are not using it.
The screen is distinguished by its 16:10 aspect ratio, displaying more height information than the classic 16:9. Its IPS technology ensures large vertical and horizontal viewing angles but a standard colorimetry, lower than that provided by high-end IPS. The Asus Vivobook S1605YA-MB070W is a thin and light laptop with a comfortable form factor for everyday all-round use on the go.
It is able to last about 8 hours on battery in light use, which is of interest to some nomads such as those looking for a student laptop. Especially since despite its comfortable size, its controlled weight and thinness make it easy to transport.
This laptop is obviously driven by a low-power processor, in this case the AMD Octo Core Barcelo Refresh Ryzen 7730U which houses the Radeon Vega 8 graphics module. The Ryzen 7 is paired with 16 GB of RAM to provide good performance in everyday use, but not only.
It’s also good for watching photos and videos or playing light games.
But also to perform multimedia content work using multi-cores and RAM, such as video encoding or photo editing.
Storage is of course entrusted to an SSD because it consumes less energy than a hard drive. It also offers other advantages: greater robustness, quieter operation, greater speed.
In practice, thanks to the SSD, starting/shutting down, processing and launching applications are faster than with a hard disk and you can get to the maps of online games faster.
In fact, the SSD guarantees much better fluidity and responsiveness on a daily basis than a hard drive.
The SSD here offers a capacity of 512 GB equivalent to what the HDDs offer as standard. However, in case you need more space, you can use an external storage module. Choosing a USB 3.0/USB-C device is an interesting option for fast transfers.
