Chassis, connectors, screen of the Asus VivoBook S17 S712EAM-BX494W
It sports a sober and elegant design with its relatively thin light silver Transparent Silver chassis.
This versatile laptop also has good connectivity including 1 USB-C, a convenient HDMI video output to easily connect it to a TV or monitor for example, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.1 modules for wireless remote connections and communications, an audio port without forgetting 3 USB all compatible USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 guarantees transfers made up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if you connect a USB 3.0 device to it.
The screen adopts for its part classic characteristics for a 17-inch with its 16/9th format lending itself well to the playback of videos and its definition of 1600×900. As it is anti-reflective, the screen is also more readable in bright environments (e.g. outside) than a shiny slab and less tiring for the eyes in prolonged use.
Performance, battery life of the Asus VivoBook S17 S712EAM-BX494W
The Asus VivoBook S17 S712EAM-BX494W is a relatively thin and lightweight 17-inch laptop intended for everyday versatile use.
It has a 512 GB SSD storage, a capacity that certainly corresponds to what hard drives offer as standard. But if necessary, you can use an external storage unit such as a USB-C/USB 3.0 device to benefit from fast transfers.
Especially the SSD is silent but also less energy-consuming than a hard drive, more robust and much faster.
As a result, thanks to the SSD, fluidity and responsiveness are better on a daily basis than with a hard drive. Software starts/stops and launches are much faster, for example, while you can get to the maps of online games faster.
Because while no dedicated graphics card is embedded, you can watch photos and videos but also play light titles thanks to the Intel UHD G4 graphics solution integrated into the processor.
This one is a low-power Core i3-1115G4 Intel Tiger Lake, coupled here with 8 GB of RAM to provide good performance in everyday use, such as surfing the Internet and office automation.
However, it should be kept in search that this Core i3 reveals its limits under CPU-intensive software, such as amd Ryzen 3 and of course less powerful processors.
As for the autonomy, count on about 4 hours of operation on battery in light use for this computer whose large format is certainly not the most easily transportable but some will nevertheless appreciate its controlled weight and its finesse. In any case, remember that a 17-inch offers the advantage of being particularly comfortable for mainly sedentary use (eg at home).
