With its neat design dominated by a second ScreenPad screen under the keyboard, the Asus VivoBook S432FA-EB052T is not a 14-inch ultrabook like the others. Asus has equipped it with an office and multimedia base comfortable with productive use (quad-core Core i7) and the system benefits from a good reactivity thanks to the RAM in good quantity and to the fast SSD storage. In addition, there is an interactive ScreenPad on the touchpad for multitasking, an infrared webcam for facial recognition, a borderless IPS screen and complete connectivity. On the other hand, the low capacity of the battery makes us seriously doubt the autonomy.

Chassis, connectors, screen of the Asus VivoBook S432FA-EB052T
The revolution is not there on the look side, the VivoBook S432FA-EB052T taking many of the lines of its predecessor (VivoBook S430). But Asus makes some welcome adjustments in an all-metal case . The silhouette of the ultrabook is now sharper and angular, a visible bias in particular at the level of the ErgoLift hinge which is refined. Now crossed on the majority of Asus PCs, this hinge has the particularity of tilting the base up to 3.5 degrees following the opening of the cover in order to optimize typing comfort while contributing to better circulation of the air below the chassis.
The design inherits from this model a uniform neutral silver color. The goal is to pass in all environments and to please the greatest number.
The keyboard takes advantage of a backlighting system (white) to highlight the silver keys in the dark.
Measurements are another point on which Asus has redesigned its VivoBook. If its weight (1.4 kg) and its thickness of 18 mm do not change, its format changes to 322 x 211 mm (against 323 x 226 mm for the S14 2017). This compaction is possible thanks to the NanoEdge edges which surround the screen (5.2 mm side edges) and which lead to an occupancy ratio of 88% for the screen compared to the case.
Speaking of it, the screen benefits from a Full HD definition (1920 x 1080 px) which provides a healthy display density to view content in High Definition in the best conditions. On the other hand, the IPS panel works to open the viewing angles and faithfully reproduce the colors while the mat treatment of the panel acts as a barrier to reflections linked to use in high ambient light. A plus for comfort.
On the sides of the chassis, the composition of the connections is satisfactory even if two USB ports are still limited to the 2.0 standard. In addition, there is an HDMI output, a microSD card reader and two other USB ports including a USB 3.1 and a USB 3.1 Type-C . The recent Wifi AC and Bluetooth 5.0 modules are also in the game and biometric authentication is provided by the infrared webcam .
Main interest of this Asus VivoBook S432FA-EB052T and small exclusivity in its category, a second screen is housed under the keyboard instead of the touchpad: the ScreenPad . It is version 2.0 which is integrated on this new VivoBook. It reserves a size that goes up to 5.65 inches, a Full HD definition (2160 x 1080 px), a smartphone-like user experience and significantly reduced consumption. Difficult to list all the possibilities offered by this second interactive screen. Let’s say it improves productivity and multitasking by providing an enriched experience.
Performance, autonomy of the Asus VivoBook S432FA-EB052T
The Asus VivoBook S432FA-EB052T promises great capabilities thanks to its 10th generation (2019) Comet Lake Core i7-10510U processor . The gain is not significant compared to the 9th generation Core i7-8565U (Whiskey Lake), or even noticeable in practice. Anyway, the Zenbook will not leave any work aside and will cover all of the current use (Web browsing, Office processing, video) with a sharp mastery in the most greedy applications, drawing on the multicore architecture (video editing, Photoshop …). With 8 GB of RAM behind, the system will not lose fluidity in multitasking.
Storage is entrusted to an M.2 NVMe PCIe 512 GB SSD which will bring a welcome dose of responsiveness to the system. Compared to a standard mechanical hard drive, it is quieter, more robust and energy efficient and allows Windows to reach a remarkable level of fluidity with short loading times and execution without latencies. What is more, its capacity is not ridiculous and can accommodate a good part of your toy library even if some may not find it sufficient.
Players will have to go their way though, just like those who need to do heavy graphics processing. Indeed, no dedicated graphics card is on the program, but that does not prevent multimedia exploitation or some editing work which mainly takes advantage of the processor.
Question autonomy, the battery inside this Vivobook S432FA is not very important (42 Whr), which should not leave him more than 5 to 6 hours of autonomy in web browsing with active Wifi, knowing that we do not yet know the impact of ScreenPad 2.0 on this data.
