The design of the Asus VivoBook X705UA-BX217T is characterized by compacted measurements with a little over 2 kg on the scale and 22 mm thick. It is welcome if you wish to transport it. He chooses a white “Pearl White” design embellished with a subtle graphic print with a central golden logo while the interior chooses a brushed effect coating with the same white color. The lower part of the base is black and contrasted frankly without it serving the purpose.
You can expect to see the PC around 7 hours of battery life and up to 8 hours by lowering the brightness of the screen. It is satisfactory for a 17 inches but average otherwise.
The heart of this Asus VivoBook X705UA-BX217T is not intended to override basic everyday use. And for good reason, it is based on a Pentium Dual Core 4405U and 4 GB of RAM (DDR4). This duo will honor all the office tasks such as surfing the web, playing video or working on Office but will not be able to deal with more demanding, if not a little light editing. Opposite, the small amount of RAM will not leave much amplitude to multitasking.
The graphics part is integrated into the processor (Intel HD 510) and second it in the processing of video tasks / light processing but does not play too much, if not the “light gaming”.
For its part, the screen can not be more basic with its definition HD (1600 x 900 px) and the support of a TN panel. Here, viewing angles will be limited and colors not respected. Good point however, anti-reflective treatment will facilitate the visibility of the information on the screen when the ambient brightness is pronounced.
Storage continues in the same direction and opts for the standard: a hard drive of 1000 GB . This solution has the advantage of offering enough space to house all of your toy library but it is far from the responsiveness allowed by a dedicated SSD. In other words, only people who have never worked on a PC with a SSD will be able to cope. The others will probably have trouble dealing with the latencies imposed by the DD. Be aware that an M.2 slot is logically free to add a SSD thereafter.
Connectivity is quite limited. A Type-C USB port is present alongside three other USB ports including a single USB 3.0 port. An HDMI output, an Ethernet port and an SD card reader are also provided but the wireless modules are older generation (Wifi 802.11 N, Bluetooth 4.0)
