At IFA 2022 Asus presents its new thin and light 17-inch foldable touch laptop with OLED 2.5K touch panel, the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED UX9702 with Intel Alder Lake processor equipped with PCIe 4.0 SSD storage and Wi-Fi ax and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity.
The Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED UX9702 is a new original laptop as it takes the form of a large 17.3-inch 4:3 touchscreen multi-touch OLED 2.5K (2560×1920) 100% DCI-P3 0.2ms HDR True Black 500 Pantone low blue light emission
This being can fold in half like a book – we then get a 12.5-inch 1920×1280 screen in 3:2 format – and is associated with a chiclet keyboard to which it can be connected.
You can only use the screen part as a laptop by displaying a touch keyboard or associated with the ErgoSense backlit chiclet keyboard (1.4mm stroke) (in front, next to or on half of the screen), the screen can display the same content on its entire surface or split content.
Above the screen/Tablet sits a 5.0 megapixel HD webcam with microphone and infrared technology allowing biometric authentication by facial recognition via Windows Hello technology.
It comes with 2 Harman Kardon Smart Amp speakers and 6E ax Wi-Fi connectivity (2×2), Bluetooth 5, headphone/mic combo audio and 2 USB-C Thunderbolt 4.
The Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED UX9702 integrates within it an Intel Alder Lake processor and more precisely Alder Lake-U with a reduced TDP of 9W Core i7-1250U (10 cores: 2P 1.7 GHz 8E 1.2 GHz) directly housing the Iris Xe graphics module (less powerful than that of the Alder Lake-U 15W).
The Alder Lake-U 9W is paired with the heart of this 2-in-1 Hybrid Tablet laptop with 16GB LPDDR5 6400MHz of soldered RAM as well as 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD storage.
This new large-format foldable touchscreen laptop runs on Windows 11 (Pro) with a 4-cell 75Whr Li-Ion battery and adopts a Tech Black magnesium alloy design with ergonomic support in dark green leatherette.
Robust with its compliance with the military resistance standard MIL-STD-810H, it weighs 1.5 Kg and measures 378.5 x 287.6 x 8.7-12.9 mm.
Asus tells us that it will market its Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED UX9702 foldable screen during the 4th quarter of 2022 at a price far from being within the reach of all budgets: 3999 euros.
