This weight-controlled 17-inch laptop PC has a correct connection, positioned mainly on the left, except that we regret the old Wi-Fi standard and the absence of USB 3.1 Type-C.
There is a practical HDMI video output to easily connect this computer to a monitor or a TV for example, Wi-Fi n and Bluetooth 4.2 modules for wireless remote communications, audio and Ethernet ports or even 3 USB (all compatible with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0), USB 3.0 guaranteeing transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if USB 3.0 devices are plugged into it.
On the right side this large format laptop hosts an optical unit while it has become rarer in recent years due to the modes of dematerialization and finesse. You can therefore read / watch and burn CDs and DVDs with this PC.
The screen is anti-reflective which makes it more readable than a shiny panel in a bright environment (eg outdoors) and less tiring for the eyes in prolonged use. For the rest, it adopts classic characteristics with its definition of 1600×900 and its 16: 9 format lending itself well to video playback.
Performance, battery life of the HP 17-ca1043nf
The HP 17-ca1043nf is a 17-inch laptop designed for general-purpose general use.
It takes advantage of a good amount of 8 GB RAM and an AMD Quad Core APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) Ryzen 7 3700U low-power Picasso processor.
The general performances delivered by this duo are able to satisfy many users who will also be able to play with this PC if they are satisfied with titles that do not consume 3D resources.
The Radeon RX Vega 10 graphics solution integrated within the Ryzen 7 is indeed positioned at the level of a dedicated entry-level graphics card. It is therefore significantly more powerful than the UHD 620 of Intel processors and of course allows you to watch photos and videos.
On the storage side, HP has chosen a silent SSD but also less energy than a hard drive, more resistant to shocks and much faster.
As a result, thanks to the SSD, we benefit from a much better fluidity and responsiveness on a daily basis than with a simple hard drive. One thus obtains, for example, faster starts / stops and launches of applications but also a faster arrival on the maps of online games.
Here we find an onboard SSD whose capacity of 512 GB rivals hard drives. And if you need more space, you can obviously use an external storage unit such as a USB 3.0 device to take advantage of fast transfers.
As for the autonomy of approximately 4 hours of battery operation in light use, this is not the strong point of this PC, whose large format is particularly comfortable for mainly sedentary use (eg at home).
