At CES 2021, the 14-inch HP EliteBook 840 G8 and 15-inch EliteBook 850 G8 are new Ultrabooks that run on Intel Tiger Lake processor with Iris Xe graphics. On the program, NVIDIA Turing graphics card, infrared webcam, SSD storage or 4G or 5G connectivity, Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi ax.
The HP EliteBook 840 G8 of 14 inches is equipped with an Intel low-power processor Tiger Lake Quad Core i5-1135G7 (2.4 GHz) or Quad Core i7-1165G7 (2.8 GHz), 2 to integrated graphics Intel Xe passed between our hands for testing .
The heart of this Ultrabook also consists of M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD storage up to 2 TB and up to 64 GB DDR4 3200MHz of RAM via 2 slots.
The 14-inch HP EliteBook 840 G8 weighs 1.15 Kg , measures 323.6 x 214.7 x 17.9mm and runs Windows 10 (Pro) with a 3-cell, 53Whr Li-Polymer battery.
It is equipped with a splash-resistant backlit chiclet keyboard but also with an optional dual authentication solution using Windows Hello technology: an infrared webcam allowing facial recognition and a fingerprint reader .
There is also an optional NFC chip and a Smart Cart card reader, while a TPM 2.0 security chip is integrated anyway.
There is also a Privacy option to shut off the webcam, a standard 720p HD model being integrated.
The 14-inch HP EliteBook 840 G8 also features 2 Bang & Olufsen speakers as well as a 14-inch Full HD anti-reflective screen (1920×1080) available in 4 options: 250cd / m², 250cd / m² touch screen with Corning protective layer Gorilla Glass 5, low consumption 400cd / m² but also 1000cd / m² HP Sure View which protects from prying eyes, however to the detriment of viewing angles.
In terms of connectivity, this Ultrabook has wireless Wi-Fi ax (2×2, Wi-Fi 6) and Bluetooth 5.0 modules , an HDMI 2.0 video output, a headphone / microphone combo audio port, 2 USB 3.0 and of 2 USB 4 Type-C Thunderbolt 4 .
A nanoSIM slot is also integrated to take advantage (optional) of 4G LTE or 5G modules .
The HP EliteBook 850 G8 of 15 inches is distinguished by its size with dimensions of 359 x 233.8 x 19.2 mm and weight of 1.69 kg .
The 15-inch HP EliteBook 850 G8 is also distinguished by the fact that it incorporates a numeric keypad on the right of the keyboard.
This 15-inch Ultrabook also benefits from an optional NVIDIA Turing dedicated graphics card, the GeForce MX450 .
The new 14-inch HP EliteBook 840 G8 and 15-inch HP EliteBook 850 G8 Ultrabooks are scheduled for March 2021.
