A thin and elegant silver laptop PC, the HP Envy 17-cg1028nf boasts a 17-inch IPS Full HD anti-glare 100% sRGB screen. Efficient in everyday use thanks to its good amount of 16 GB RAM and its Quad Core i5 Tiger Lake processor with Iris Xe graphics, this computer is able to run not too demanding games thanks to its GeForce MX450 NVIDIA Turing graphics card. In addition, thanks to the fast SSD storage, the responsiveness of this PC is enhanced. Backlit chiclet keyboard, shutter for webcam and biometric reader as well as Wi-Fi ax and USB-C connectivity are also on the program for this computer, however without Thunderbolt.

Chassis, connectors, screen of the HP Envy 17-cg1028nf
Rechargeable 50% in 45 minutes, it has a sober and elegant look with its fine natural silver case with anodized and sandblasted finish.
The connectivity built into this versatile laptop PC is good, including 1 USB-C, Bluetooth 5.0 wireless modules and Wi-Fi ax ( newer and more efficient than Wi-Fi ac ) to communicate and connect remotely without- wire, a practical HDMI video output to easily connect this computer to a TV for example, Ethernet and audio ports not to mention 3 USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) guaranteeing transfers made up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if USB 3.0 devices are connected to it.
However, we regret the absence of Thunderbolt 4 while its support for Tiger Lake processors is native.
As a fingerprint reader is integrated, we can authenticate by biometric recognition via Windows Hello technology.
A backlighting system is of course fitted to the chiclet keyboard, which is practical for distinguishing its keys in a dimly lit environment.
Above the screen sits a webcam that can be hidden via a shutter to better protect privacy.
The screen itself will be of interest to creators as it adopts 100% sRGB and IPS specifications ensuring colors displayed more faithfully than average as well as great vertical and horizontal viewing angles. A priori the screen is bright and therefore, it gives punch to the colors but is sensitive to reflections in bright environments (eg outdoors). In any case, thanks to its Full HD definition and its 16: 9 format, the screen lends itself well to the display of High Definition content such as videos.
Performance, battery life of the HP Envy 17-cg1028nf
The HP Envy 17-cg1028nf is a sleek, relatively thin large-format laptop PC for versatile on-the-go use.
It benefits from a good amount of RAM of 16 GB above the average very appreciable in multitasking which goes well with the processor, a Tiger Lake low consumption Quad Core i5-1135G7.
This heart at ease in multitasking delivers good general performance capable of satisfying many users, especially as the Core i5 Tiger Lake integrates the Intel Iris Xe.
The performance of the Intel Iris Xe graphics part that we tested is significantly superior to those of the classic Intel UHD 620.
Concretely with this thin laptop PC, you can look at photos and videos of course but also run games that are not too demanding in terms of graphics resources.
And if you need a little more performance, the onboard NVIDIA Optimus technology activates the more demanding GeForce MX450 dedicated graphics card.
Optimus switches automatically and in real time between the Iris Xe and the GeForce MX450, the second being a little more efficient than the first more energy efficient.
The Iris Xe is therefore called upon to the maximum by Optimus to ensure the best possible battery life. In this regard, bet on about 6 hours of battery operation in light use.
As for storage, we find unsurprisingly an expected SSD in such a thin laptop. Thanks to the SSD, we benefit from a much better fluidity and responsiveness on a daily basis than with a simple hard drive.
This implies in practice much faster starts / stops, processing and launches of applications or even a faster arrival on the cards of online games.
An SSD is indeed much faster than a hard drive but also more energy efficient, more resistant to shocks and silent.
Here we find an SSD whose capacity of 512 GB is in phase with the standard of hard disks.
In case you need additional space, you can use an external storage unit such as a USB-C / USB 3.0 device to benefit from fast transfers.
Finally, this computer adopts a particularly comfortable 17-inch format for mainly sedentary use (eg at home). Its finesse is appreciable for its transport, which is however not the easiest due to its heavy weight.
