Chassis, connectivity, screen of the HP Gaming Pavilion 15-cx0033nf
Halfway between the sober Pavilion Power 15 and the racy HP Omen 15, the new Gaming Pavilion offers a clean aesthetic, both consensual and racy. This 15-cx0033nf Gaming Pavilion is illuminated with green on the keyboard and at the logo. The very angular silhouette directly recalls that of the Omen with its protruding edges, its central hinge and its marked angles. The chassis is made of black plastic (celestial dixit HP) and gets a brushed finish around the keyboard.
The keyboard is backlit and highlighted on each key by a green outline, as well as the touchpad. It is also noted that it extends over the entire width of the base, which implies compaction of the hull. HP has been concerned about the size of its Gaming Pavilion that has lost 13 mm in width, allowing to offer a borderless design on the screen.
Speaking of measurements, the silhouette of the Gaming Pavilion 15-cx0033nf is not compaet with more than 25 mm thick. But with an optimized weight around 2.2 kg on the scale, it will not be against some punctual moves.
The refined frame of the screen plays in favor of immersion, encouraged by the IPS . You enjoy a consistent image with rich colors regardless of your position in front of the screen and a high display density with Full HD (1920 x 1080 px). This definition allows you to fully enjoy your High Definition content and to modulate the positioning of windows without losing legibility. In addition, the matte treatment plays a decisive role if you are installed in a very bright environment, was a barrier to glare. Note that the IPS panel is not noticed for its immediate response time.
As for the connection, it may seem a bit limited for a PC game but it is correct for any other use. It includes a USB Type-C port (up to 5 Gbps, DP 1.2, HP Boost), an HDMI output, an SD card reader and three other USB 3.1 ports. The connectivity modules include a Gigabit Ethernet port and recent Wi-Fi AC and Bluetooth 4.2 chips.
Performance, battery life of the HP Gaming Pavilion 15-cx0033nf
The heart of the PC is not quite last generation with the arrival of Intel 9th generation processors in recent days (April 2019). However, our HP Gaming Pavilion 15-cx0033nf does not lack plumb. And for good reason, the Quad Core i5-8500H Coffee Lake is able to support the versatile use of video editing, 3D rendering, programming or engineering, with impressive multitasking flexibility at this level thanks to the 12 GB of RAM . This is a strong point for productivity.
The dedicated graphics card GeForce GTX 1060 Pascal in its version with 3 GB GDDR5 dedicated gives the relief to the game. It is able to measure itself to intensive players and to ensure high frequencies in Full HD on all the titles of the market with sharp details. It can also deal with 4K, provided to be content with titles undemanding. It is the same for virtual reality.
Opposite, the storage is standard but pleasantly vivacious since it combines a dedicated NVMe PCIe SSD to a 7200tr hard disk of large capacity. This duo is the pair to ensure a system more reactive – the operating system and most programs and games are installed on the dedicated SSD (128 GB) – while adding a large storage space to house your toy library ( 1000 GB ). The gain provided by the SSD is visible compared to a machine with a hard disk alone, especially since it is overall quieter, more robust and more energy efficient than its partner.
On this model, the battery inherits a good capacity (70 Whr against 52.5 Whr on the other 15-cx). Nevertheless, the autonomy should barely exceed 6 hours in Internet browsing with active WiFi.
