Chassis, connectors, HP Omen screen 15-dc1045nf
It sports a black celestial cover carbon fiber finish brushed sandblasted keyboard frame (dixit HP) resolutely gamer and original. In addition, it enjoys a long battery (70Whr against 52Whr for other Omen 15) that can be recharged at 50% in 45 minutes.
In terms of connectivity, this computer gamer will appeal to demanding users. There are indeed 1 USB 3.1 Type-C Thunderbolt 3, Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi Ax modules ( rare and more powerful than Wi-Fi ac ) for communicating and connecting remotely wireless, HDMI video outputs and mini DisplayPort convenient for easily connect this PC to a TV or monitor for example, audio ports and Ethernet or 3 USB 3.0 (compatible USB 2.0) ensuring transfers made up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if USB 3.0 devices are connected to it.
The chiclet keyboard can obviously be backlit, here via a 2-zone solution, which is convenient to discern its keys in the dark.
The screen is suitable for displaying High Definition content and especially videos with its precise definition Full HD and its 16 / 9th format. Thanks to its IPS technology, its horizontal and vertical viewing angles are important and its colorimetry is more faithful than average (but less than higher-end IPS panels). Anti-reflective, the screen also offers better visibility in a bright environment (eg outside) than a glossy slab.
Performance, autonomy of the HP Omen 15-dc1045nf
The HP Omen 15-dc1045nf is designed for those wishing to equip a versatile laptop 15-inch performance, especially in games, with recent connectivity.
With its dedicated high-end GeForce GTX 1660 Ti NVIDIA Turing graphics card , it is able to play the user’s favorite games.
Depending on the tasks performed, NVIDIA Optimus embedded technology switches automatically and in real time between the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and the Intel UHD 630 integrated into the processor.
Optimus requests maximum the Intel UHD 630 despite its very modest benefits because it is energy efficient and therefore promotes autonomy. The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is in practice activated by Optimus to perform graphic processing considered too heavy for the Intel UHD 630. Both solutions allow of course to look at photos and videos.
Parameter essential in the games, responsiveness has been treated here especially in terms of storage. A 512 GB SSD is indeed integrated, competing with hard drives in terms of capacity (which is still too infrequent) while being much faster, more energy efficient, more robust and quiet.
As a result, daily operation is significantly more responsive and fluid than with a hard drive. Starts / stops and games / applications launches are faster and we can for example get faster on online game maps.
But 512 GB may seem right. That said, a 2.5-inch slot is free to add a second SSD or hard drive. And you can always use an external storage device such as a USB 3.0 device to enjoy fast transfers.
Built around an Intel HM370 chipset, a Hexa Core i7-9750H Coffee Lake Refresh processor and 8GB of RAM, this gaming computer delivers solid overall performance to satisfy a maximum of users. In particular, faster processing is achieved than with a Quad Core processor under the demanding workload of CPU resources exploiting multicore, such as photo editing, video editing or 3D rendering, which will be of interest to creatives. On the other hand, the contribution of the Hexa Core remains variable in the games compared to a Quad Core.
