At first glance, this new MSI GE63 remains very aesthetically close to the MSI GE62 (VR), the older generation. Slightly slimmer by 1 millimeter, it still sports this structured black shell with subtle touches of red and the elegant brushed effect on the back of the screen and around the keyboard. But the apparent sobriety hides on the ignition a PC to look much more “fun” with its multicolored LEDS that highlight the structure of the lid and keyboard backlit RGB key touch. This “Mystic Light”identity is fully customizable, all elements can be synchronized or illuminated differently. It is immediately less consensual.
MSI always relies heavily on its many built-in technologies that will enrich the gaming experience. It includes a brand new Dragon Center 2.0 interface that allows you to manage the performance of the PC through different profiles of use, the MatrixDisplay system to extend the experience. external two-screen display or the arrival of Cooler Boost 5 which will automatically adjust the speed of the 2 integrated “Whrilwind Blade” fans and 7 heat pipes via 4 air outlets. The sound is entrusted to two XL speakers and technology Nahimic 3 for more immersion.
Note that this PC comes with FreeDos , a utility that does not fully exploit all its capabilities. It will therefore be necessary to install a complete operating system such as Linux or Windows to enjoy a perfectly functional environment.
As suggested – not very subtly – its look, the PC is intended primarily for an audience of players, a vocation supported by the GeForce GTX 1070 in its version with 8 GB dedicated . This dedicated high-end graphics card allows intensive play in Full HD with details set to “Ultra”. In practice, the gain in performance reaches 40% compared to a GeForce 980M, enough to offer very solid graphics dimensions. The game in 4K is also supported with fluidity and details (on external screen), as well as virtual reality.
In front is installed a particularly solid base composed of a Hexa Core i7 Coffe Lake supported by 16 GB of RAM . Compared to its predecessor (i7-7700HQ Kaby Lake), the youngest receives a significant increase in power thanks to 6 logical cores (against 4 for the i7-7700HQ), allowing him to face all possible missions and imaginable, to the most advanced 3D rendering and engineering missions. The RAM that the second will impose an ideal fluidity for a multitasking pushed and flexible gaming sessions.
The screen specifications are also designed for the benefit of players with a vivacity amplified by the refresh rate of 120 Hz (3ms) . It effectively eliminates the IPS technology and its wide viewing angles, which can slow down some. Its Full HD (1920 x 1080px) resolution provides high display density and allows you to get the most out of your High Definition content / game and the matte slab prevents ambient light from reflecting on the screen , improving the playing comfort (especially in dark scenes).
Moreover, the storage is generous and combines a fast dedicated SSD with a swift hard drive of great capacity. This duo is the pair to ensure a system more responsive – the operating system, programs and games are installed on the dedicated SSD ( 512 GB ) – while adding a large storage space to house your toy library. The gain provided by the SSD is visible compared to a machine with a hard disk alone, especially since it is installed on the NVMe PCIe interface found to be faster than the SATA3 standard.
Finally, the connectivity will finish convincing the players. There is an SD card reader, two video outputs (HDMI 1.4, mini-DisplayPort) and four USB ports including two USB 3.0, a USB 3.1 (Gen2) and a USB 3.1 Type-C (Gen2) supporting the Thunderbolt 3 . You also enjoy the latest generation of the Bluetooth 5.0 chip, WiFi 802.11 AC and Gigabit Ethernet with BigFoot Gamer Killer E2500 technology to give priority games.
