Chassis, connectors, MSI GS75 8SE-082FR Stealth display
It sports a rather sober and elegant design for a gamer model because of its finesse, its black finish and touches of copper.
Cooling is ensured by the Trinity Cooler Boost technology, which combines 3 Whirlwind Blade fans (47 blades, 0.2mm) with 7 heat pipes.
It has Shift function (Fn + F7) to switch between Turbo, Sport, Comfort and Eco modes. And Killer DoubleShot makes sure to give network priority to online games.
Side connectivity, this Ultrabook is well equipped with its 2 USB 3.1 Type-C including 1 Thunderbolt 3, its Bluetooth modules 5.0 and Wi-Fi ac to communicate and connect wirelessly wirelessly, its HDMI video output useful for connecting easily to a TV and / or monitor for example, its Ethernet and audio ports not to mention its 3 USB 3.1 (USB 2.0 compatible) ensuring transfers made up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if plugged on USB 3.0 devices .
The chiclet keyboard has a handy RGB backlight system for convenient discernment in dim light. It has been developed with the help of SteelSeries so that it adapts to the habits of the players.
IPS, the screen reproduces colors more accurately than average and provides comfortable viewing angles, both horizontally and vertically. Thanks to its refresh rate of 144Hz, it also boosts gaming fluency compared to the 60Hz standard. Accurate with its Full HD definition, the screen lends itself well to the display of High Definition content like videos in its 16 / 9th format. Anti-reflective, it also offers better visibility than a bright slab in bright environment.
Performance, autonomy of the MSI GS75 8SE-082FR Stealth
The MSI GS75 8SE-082FR Stealth targets those who want to acquire a 17-inch compact and yet powerful multi-purpose notebook, especially in games.
Thanks to its dedicated GeForce RTX 2060 top-of-the-line NVIDIA Turing ray-tracing card , it is able to run the latest graphics games. As our test dedicated to the GeForce RTX 2060 shows , it is indeed more powerful than the GeForce GTX 1070.
Depending on the tasks performed, the NVIDIA Optimus embedded technology uses either the GeForce RTX 2060 or the Intel UHD 630 integrated into the processor. Despite its modest performance, the Intel UHD 630 is preferred as much as possible by Optimus because its low energy consumption promotes autonomy. The GeForce RTX 2060 is therefore activated by Optimus to perform graphic processing deemed too heavy for the Intel UHD 630. Both of course allow to watch photos and videos.
In games, reactivity is an essential element. It is appropriate with this Ultrabook gamer because a 512 GB SSD storage is embedded. It competes with hard drives in terms of capacity while being much faster, more energy efficient, more robust and quiet.
The presence of the SSD ensures much smoother operation than with a hard drive – including games – as well as faster starts / stops and games / software launches.
If the 512 GB offered here are correct, know that 2 M.2 slots are free to add SSD. You can also use an external storage unit as a USB 3.0 device to enjoy fast transfers.
The heart of this thin and light gamer computer is up to it. Built around an Intel HM370 chipset, it includes a good amount of 16GB RAM coupled with a latest generation Hexa Core i7-8750H Coffee Lake processor.
This duo supports the RTX 2060 in games and provides faster processing than 8 GB DDR4 and a quad core processor in the areas of resourceful RAM and CPU exploiting the multicore.
The contribution of the Hexa Core in games is however variable compared to a Quad Core.
Fine and lightweight for a 17 inch – all the more gamer! -, this computer sees its transport facilitated. But its delicacy at a price: when it is heavily solicited, it is well heard and heated (eg in games) and then avoid putting it on the lap or a duvet. Side autonomy, put on about 4 hours of battery operation in light use.
