Chassis, connectors, screen of MSI Thin 15 B13VE-2282FR
With its thin and light Cosmos Gray aluminum design, this laptop has a simple gaming appearance.
The built-in connectivity of this gaming laptop is good, consisting of USB-C, Wi-Fi 6E ax and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless modules for remote connections and communications, Ethernet and audio ports, an HDMI video output useful for easily connecting it to a TV or monitor for example, but also 3 USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) ensuring transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if peripherals USB 3.0 are plugged into it.
We notice the absence of a numeric keypad which will disappoint those who regularly enter numbers. Especially since this feature is standard from 15 inches.
The screen has a backlight solution that you just have to activate when you need to better distinguish its keys.

The screen adopts a refresh rate of 144Hz which clearly enhances fluidity in games, but also more generally in everyday life, compared to the standard 60Hz.
The Full HD screen, which lends itself well to video playback due to its 16:9 format, is adorned with IPS technology ensuring wide viewing angles, both horizontally and vertically.
Its anti-reflective coating also ensures better visibility in bright environments (e.g. outdoors) than a glossy panel.
Performance, battery life of MSI Thin 15 B13VE-2282FR
The MSI Thin 15 B13VE-2282FR is a versatile 15-inch thin and light laptop that performs well in creation-oriented gaming.
Thanks to this gaming laptop, you can play recent games since it is equipped with the dedicated GeForce RTX 4050 ray tracing NVIDIA Ada Lovelace graphics card.
However, concessions are necessary under the most 3D resource-intensive titles to obtain good playability. Because here the TDP is reduced to 45W, which is below average and implies lower performance.
In any case, creators will appreciate that their multimedia processing is accelerated by the GeForce RTX 4050. And this is done under software that takes advantage of GPU computing power, such as VSDC, the Adobe suite or Vegas.
This Ultrabook does not constantly use the GeForce RTX 4050 ray tracing.
NVIDIA Optimus technology activates it automatically in real time based on the tasks performed. And this is when Optimus considers that the performance of the Intel Iris Xe graphics solution inserted in the processor is insufficient to perform the requested tasks.
Whether with the Iris Xe or the GeForce RTX 4050, you can obviously watch HD photos and videos. Despite its much lower performance, the Iris Xe is nevertheless favoured as much as possible by Optimus because it is energy efficient and therefore promotes autonomy.
This is around 5 hours on battery in light use. It’s a shame that it’s not higher because this Ultrabook is easy to carry thanks to its thinness and controlled weight, which some looking for a student laptop might appreciate… if they don’t need a lot of autonomy.
The Core i5-13420H houses the Iris Xe. This Intel Raptor Lake processor with 8 hybrid cores comes with 16 GB of RAM to provide very good overall performance.
The Core i5-13420H is more advantageous than a classic Quad Core in processor-intensive areas using multi-cores, such as photo editing or video editing.

As for storage, MSI offers a scalable solution here since a 2.5-inch slot is available to integrate a hard drive or a second SSD into this laptop as standard equipped with a 512 GB SSD.
Of course, if you need more space, you can simply connect this Ultrabook to an external storage unit. For fast transfers, it is best to opt for a USB 3.0/USB-C device.
In any case, an SSD offers several advantages: low power consumption, robust design, quiet operation and high speed.
The latter clearly reinforces responsiveness and fluidity on a daily basis. Thanks to the SSD, launching games/software is fast as well as starting/stopping, performing processing or arriving on the maps of online games.
