Rechargeable to 50% in 45 minutes, this thin and light Ultrabook sports a sober and elegant light silver design.
It runs on Windows 10S, an edition that favors security because it only allows the installation of applications from the Windows Store. However, you can exit S mode to switch to classic Windows 10 if you wish.
The connectivity integrated into this Ultrabook is good, having nothing to envy to that offered by many more expensive laptops. We thus find integrated 1 USB 3.1 Type-C, a practical HDMI video output to easily connect this PC to a TV or a monitor for example, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.2 wireless modules for remote connections and communications, an audio port as well as 2 USB 3.0 (compatible with USB 2.0) guaranteeing transfers carried out up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if USB 3.0 peripherals are connected to it.
The screen adopts a definition of 1366×768 and a 16: 9 format suitable for playing videos. Clearly, classic specifications. However, the screen is distinguished by its anti-reflective treatment, which makes it less tiring for the eyes in prolonged use than a shiny panel and more readable in bright environments (eg outdoors).
Performance, battery life of the HP 14s-dq1021nf
The HP 14s-dq1021nf is a responsive and compact laptop designed for everyday use on the go.
In this area as in office automation and surfing the Internet, it delivers good performance because it is built around a low-consumption Ice Lake Core i3-1005G1 Turbo processor and a good amount of RAM 8 GB above average very appreciable in multitasking.
It should be kept in mind that like any Core i3 (or AMD Ryzen 3), the Core i3-1005G1 reveals its limits under applications requiring processor resources. However, it should be noted that a Core i3 Turbo is significantly more efficient than a non-Turbo Core i3 (Core i3-7xxxU and predecessors).
Point of dedicated graphics card embedded in this PC logically considering the price charged. It is therefore the Intel UHD 620 solution housed within the Core i3 TB which takes care of all the graphics. Modest, it is not designed for gaming but obviously allows you to watch photos and videos.
On the storage side, HP has chosen a 256 GB SSD here. This capacity is sufficient for a number of uses but is lower than the standard for hard drives. However, an SSD offers several advantages – and not the least – compared to a hard disk: it is silent, more resistant to shocks, less energy and much faster.
As a result, thanks to the SSD, this elegant silver Ultrabook is significantly more responsive and fluid in everyday life than if it were equipped with a simple hard drive. The SSD guarantees, for example, much faster application launches and starts / stops.
And if you need more space, you can obviously use an external storage unit such as a USB 3.0 device to take advantage of fast transfers.
As for battery life, expect around 6 hours on battery in light use for this Ultrabook whose compactness, finesse and weight of less than 1.5 kg facilitate transport.
