Between refinement and response, the Asus ZenBook Flip S UX371EA-HL036T has not decided. This 13-inch ultrabook convertible into a tablet enhanced by a 4K OLED touchscreen contains a promising multimedia configuration with the support of a dedicated 512 GB SSD, 16 GB of RAM and an 11th generation Core i7 Quad Core integrating an Iris Xe graphics solution that opens up a bit of multimedia. We will also note its premium chassis, its even more immersive borderless screen and its practical NumPad. It is also particularly rich in amenities with two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4, an infrared webcam and compact measurements on a durable aluminum chassis. At this stage, the battery life of 6 hours is a brake on mobility and be aware that the performance of the Core i7 is not fully exploited here.

Chassis, connectors, screen of the Asus ZenBook Flip S UX371EA-HL036T
Forged in a reinforced aluminum unibody structure – 50% more resistant than the standard alloy – which gives it very good robustness, the Asus ZenBook Flip S UX371EA-HL036T is subtly surrounded by a bevelled golden outline that goes come to awaken the black color (Jade Black), also present to underline the logo on the back of the cover and the letters of each key. The result is very successful. But what is especially important in the design of the new Flip S are its measurements. With 13.9 mm thickness and a small 1.2 kg on the scale, it offers a beautiful compactness and opens onto a nomadic world without limit.
Note also the presence of a white keyboard backlighting system on 3 levels which will ensure a comfortable typing in the dark.
The hinge mechanism offers optimized resistance in order to switch smoothly between all modes of use. Because the peculiarity of its Flip configuration can be found in its 360 degree rotating hinges which allow the screen to switch on either side of the base for traditional use, in computer mode, or more original, in tent mode, easel or tablet.
Moreover, they articulate a magnificent screen which reveals a very bright OLED panel and presenting a wide colorimetry (100% DCI-P3, sRGB). On OLED, the contrast and black levels are far beyond anything you’ll see on a conventional LED display. Surrounded by an immersive borderless frame, the screen also offers Ultra HD definition (3840 x 2160 pixels)which delivers the sharpest image in all circumstances, whether you are looking to modulate the display (juxtaposed windows), to enlarge the characters or to view content in Very High Definition. On this subject, on 13 inches, it is recommended to carry out a scaling of 150% or more in order not to see the characters which are too small, and this without losing sharpness. A stylus is provided to interact more precisely with the touch than with the fingers. It is also a good tool for working on the image.
As for connectivity, it is concise but still has an HDMI port and a full-size USB 3.2 port, which was not the case on the Zenbook UX370, its predecessor. At their side, two USB 4 Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports , a versatile state-of-the-art connectivity. On the other hand, be aware that Asus has removed the headphone jack but provided a USB-C to audio adapter. Windows Hello is provided by the 3D infrared webcam with facial recognition and connectivity is state-of-the-art with Wifi 6 ax and Bluetooth 5.0.
Another interesting feature on this Zenbook, the NumPad 2.0 integrated into the touchpad. Its principle is to make a highlighted numeric keypad (retro LED) appear on the touchpad following a pressure in its upper right corner. Asus announces that it will provide even faster input in version 2.0. This is very useful for those who regularly enter numbers even if the lack of “return” when entering can be startling at first.
Performance, battery life of the Asus ZenBook Flip S UX371EA-HL036T
To power this Asus Zenbook Flip S UX371EA-HL036T, we find a Core i7-1165G7 processor11th generation. Known as Tiger Lake, this processor brings some interesting advancements, starting with a higher TDP. Thus, the Core i7-1165G7 of our MSI displays a TDP of 28W where its predecessors, the Core i7-1065G7 and the Core i7-10510U are satisfied with a TDP of 15W, and this despite the low consumption. This results from an increase in performance visible on advanced software (Lightroom, Capture One Pro, Davinci Resolve, 7Zip, etc.), a little less on basic daily tasks (Office, surfing the Web, streaming …) . We understand, these tasks in question are perfectly taken care of by the Zenbook, but since these are missions that only commit very few resources, the difference between the generations is not noticeable. In front,, an important total for multitasking which allows the coming years to come with confidence.
But the most interesting novelty of this 11th gen Tiger Lake lies above all in the new integrated graphics chip, the Iris Xe. Thanks to it, Intel is back in the race against AMD but also and above all against small NVIDIA graphics cards such as the GeForce MX250 or the GeForce MX350. The performances of the Iris Plus G7 of the Gen10 (Ice Lake) are exceeded by a good length. So, with the Iris Xe, you should be able to play many games at 1080p under good conditions and work on fairly graphics-intensive tasks (Lightroom) without delay. Another benefit of having a faster graphics chip integrated into the processor is that it simplifies the design of the ventilation system and therefore causes less noise and heat than in a configuration with a dedicated graphics card.
Storage is entrusted to a 512 GB NVMe PCIe SSD , a solution now standard on a laptop PC that will significantly enhance the overall responsiveness of the system on a daily basis. Overall quieter, more robust and more energy efficient than a mechanical disk, it allows Windows to achieve a remarkable level of fluidity with short load times and a performance without latencies. What is more, its capacity is nothing short of ridiculous and can accommodate a good part of your game library even if some will not find it sufficient.
A point on battery life to finish. If the variation incorporating a Full HD screen shows a certain endurance, our Asus ZenBook Flip S UX371EA-HL036T and its 4K OLED screen should not do better than 6 hours of Internet browsing with active Wifi. It’s already not so bad considering the energy consuming nature of the screen.
