A memory specialist, Corsair launches its first laptop with the Corsair Voyager a1600 designed to play and create. Based on an AMD Rembrandt Ryzen 7 processor, this laptop equipped with a 16-inch 2.5K 240Hz screen benefits from PCIe 4.0 SSD storage and connectivity with Wi-Fi 6E, Thunderbolt and USB-C.
It is rare to find a Thunderbolt 4 connector – USB 4 Type-C – under an AMD platform and yet this is what the new Corsair Voyager a1600 gaming laptop offers.
Its connectivity also includes wi-Fi 6E ax wireless modules, Bluetooth 5.2, headphone/microphone combo audio, 1 USB, 2 USB-C and an SD card reader.
HDMI is therefore conspicuous by its absence, which some may regret.
At the heart of this laptop is an AMD APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) Rembrandt Hexa Core Ryzen 5 6600HS (3.3 GHz) processor with integrated graphics Radeon 660M or Octo Core Ryzen 7 6800HS (3.2 GHz) with Radeon 680M or Octo Core Ryzen 9 6900HS (3.3 GHz) with Radeon 680M.
The Rembrandt is paired with 16GB DDR5 4800MHz RAM (2 slots) as well as 1TB or 2TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD storage.
Graphics processing is handled by the high-end AMD RDNA 2 Radeon 6800M 12GB GDDR6 dedicated dedicated card.
The whole is cooled by a steam chamber type solution via 2 fans. The display of the Corsair Voyager a1600 is entrusted to a 16-inch screen 16/10th 240Hz IPS 2.5K QHD (2560×1600) 100% sRGB FreeSync anti-glare.
This laptop weighs 2.4 Kg, measures 356 x 286.7 x 19.9 mm and has 2 Dolby Atmos speakers as well as a 720p HD webcam with microphones equipped with an ambient noise cancellation solution.
It offers above the keyboard an Elgato dock to quickly trigger macros and Steam Deck commands via 10 programmable keys.
The keyboard itself is devoid of a numeric keypad while this feature is standard from 15 inches.
But it offers Cherry MX ULP mechanical keys with Corsair Capellix LED backlight.
The price is unsurprisingly high-end. Count 3299 euros for a Corsair Voyager a1600 with Ryzen 7, 16 GB of RAM and SSD 1 TB, the price climbing to 3699 euros for a Ryzen 9, 32 GB DDR5 and SSD 2 TB.
