DJI returned to the front of the stage with a brand new drone: the DJI Mini 3 Pro. Still as miniature and lightweight, this model logically offers better features than the previous generation. It offers the possibility of filming in 4K/ 60 FPS, ActiveTrack functionality, obstacle detection in three directions or 90° gimbal rotation for a flight autonomy of more than 30 minutes.

Let’s start the presentations. The DJI Mini 3 Pro is first of all ultra light. Indeed, the latter weighs only 249 grams. In terms of size, the brand ensures that the drone benefits from the same compactness with its foldable format as the other models in the range. Thus, these two factors make it possible to take the product from everywhere.
In detail, a press release points out that this new drone embeds an “entirely new structural design, allowing several improvements in terms of performance”. DJI says the Mini 3 Pro has arms and propellers adjusted for a “more aerodynamic flight lengthening flight time,” thanks in part to dual optical sensors located at the front and rear to extend the drone’s detection range. We also learn that the gimbal has been “completely reworked” to offer more camera angles with “tilt and vertical movements for shooting”.
The novelties do not stop there. Indeed, the DJI Mini 3 Pro is the first model in the Mini range to benefit from a three-way obstacle detection system. This technological advance is due to the presence of front and rear optical sensors, but also under the drone. The latter also have the APAS 4.0 system to automatically detect and find a safer trajectory around obstacles in flight. They also offer the Focus Track feature to automatically track a person and integrate them into the center of the frame during the flight.
At the camera level, the DJI Mini 3 Pro has a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with dual native ISO with an aperture of f/1.7. It allows you to take photos up to 48 Mpx and shoot videos in 4K / 60 FPS. The drone can rotate the camera 90 degrees in order to offer vertical shots. Note that HDR video recording is available at a maximum of 30 frames per second. On the digital video zoom side, it is x2 in 4K, x3 in 2.7K and 4x in Full HD. DJI also explains that this product has “better imaging performance, with 2.4μm pixels that capture even more detailed images, especially convenient in low light or night conditions.”
The in-flight autonomy of the drone is 34 minutes. However, the Intelligent Flight Plus battery allows you to enjoy more minutes of flight. Indeed, this accessory allows to reach the 47 minutes of flight. Finally, DJI announces to expand its range of remote controls with the DJI RC, a remote controller for the DJI Mini 3 Pro with a built-in 5.5-inch touchscreen.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro is already available for pre-order for €739 and will ship from May 17, 2022. With the DJI RC-N1 remote controller (without a built-in screen, but with a smartphone holder), the price rises to 829 €, compared to 999 € with the new DJI RC remote controller.
