Chassis, connectors, screen of the HP 17-ca2038nf
Rechargeable to about 50% in 45 minutes, it has a very discreet look with its Ebony Black chassis with a low weight for a 17-inch model.
The connections integrated into this laptop PC are correct, made up of an HDMI video output useful for easily connecting this computer to a monitor or a TV for example, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.2 modules for wireless remote communications, Ethernet and audio ports but also 3 USBs (all compatible with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0), USB 3.0 guaranteeing transfers made up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if peripherals are plugged in USB 3.0.
No USB-C port, however, which may disappoint some, but this is expected in view of the positioning of this computer.
On the display side, we are dealing with a screen that adopts classic specifications, such as a 16 / 9th format that lends itself well to video playback and a definition of 1600×900.
The 17-inch screen is distinguished, however, by its anti-reflective treatment making it more readable than a shiny panel in a bright environment (eg outdoors) and less tiring for the eyes over a long period.
Performance, battery life of the HP 17-ca2038nf
The HP 17-ca2038nf is a large format laptop for everyday use that offers high storage capacity.
It takes advantage of hybrid storage offering a total capacity of 1.1 TB which is much higher than the average.
It consists of a 128 GB SSD designed to house the system as well as the main software, and a hard drive with a large capacity of 1000 GB able to accommodate the rest, such as multiple files and software.
Thanks to the SSD, we benefit from application launches and starts / stops much faster than if we were dealing with a simple hard drive.
Why ?
Because an SSD is much faster than a hard drive but also less energy, more robust and silent.
On a daily basis, an SSD actually provides much better responsiveness and fluidity than a hard drive.
The SSD goes well with the heart of this computer which delivers good performance in everyday use, such as office automation and surfing the Internet.
It is indeed made up of a good amount of 8 GB RAM and an AMD Picasso low power APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) Ryzen 3 3250U processor.
However, it should be borne in mind that, like the Intel Core i3s, the AMD Ryzen 3 Dual Core shows their limits under software requiring processor resources.

Logically considering its positioning, this laptop does not have a dedicated graphics card. It is therefore not designed for heavy graphics work such as games.
Here all the graphics are taken care of by the Radeon Vega 3 graphics part housed in the AMD Ryzen 3. Modest, the Vega 3 still allows you to watch photos and videos.
As for the battery life of this computer, the weight of which is contained for a particularly comfortable large format PC for mainly sedentary use (eg at home), bet on approximately 4 hours of battery operation in light use.
