From a design point of view, the Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-14IAP (81A500BFFR) favors sobriety with a fully gray and silver shell. Good point, Lenovo heals the finishes with a smooth and matte reinforced box. The overall gain in elegance thanks to a rather refined silhouette ( 18.6 mm ) and a weight promoting mobility ( 1.44 kg ). Unsurprisingly, the keyboard is not backlit and the touchpad is clickable but the consensual design has the advantage of creeping into all environments.
Lenovo announces up to 8 hours of autonomy but its small capacity does not predict more than 5 hours in Web browsing with active Wifi.
As a rewarding element in its configuration, the dedicated SSD storage solution will be decisive question reactivity. Thanks to the 256 GB SSD (SATA 3), the execution becomes particularly responsive and the loading times are considerably shortened. What’s more, its capacity is not ridiculous even if an external storage solution (SD card, hard drive, USB key) remains essential if you want to ship your toy library with you.
This type of storage is all the more valuable because it supports a Pentium Quad Core N4200mobile processor supported by 4 GB of RAM . In practice, this duo will easily support the current use of Internet browsing, the Office suite or video playback but will not be able to deal with much more demanding. Forget also the multitasking pushed because of the RAM in small quantity.
The connector is well equipped with two USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C port , an HDMI output, a microSD card reader and a webcam of 1 MPx. Bluetooth 4.0 and the latest version of the Wifi AC module are also on the menu.
On the side of the screen, the report is consistent with what we can expect from a 14 inches at this price, namely a standard definition (1366 x 768 pixels) and the support of a slab TN, with narrow viewing angles and medium colorimetry. Good point, anti-reflective treatment is provided to optimize the visibility of information on the screen even when the ambient light is strong.
