Need to store lots of data in your laptop PC? The Lenovo IdeaPad L3 15IML05 (81Y30040FR) offers you the space to do so with its 128 GB SSD coupled to a 1 TB hard drive. Designed primarily for office applications with the support of its Core i3 Dual Core of 10th generation supported by 8 GB of RAM to navigate and store smoothly, it meets the current needs of most users, excluding players and creatives of course. A full HD mat screen is added to the lot to satisfy moviegoers even if its borders are not super thin, the design is neat and the connectors are adequate. On the other hand, it will be necessary to take some precautions with its plastic case and the battery will not take you very far.

Chassis, connectors, screen of the Lenovo IdeaPad L3 15IML05 (81Y30040FR)

For this new generation and this change of name, IdeaPad L3, Lenovo actually borrows its case from the Lenovo IdeaPad L340. The color “Platinum Gray” is entirely silver with an elegant brushed effect affixed to the back of the cover and around the keyboard. The cover is also covered with a metallic finish supposed to protect against shocks. We finally observe that the Lenovo logo migrates on the edge of the cover and the base for a sober look, without frills

Question measurements, Lenovo has therefore not wished to enter the current movement of thin and light boxes with a laptop PC 23 mm thick and 2.2 kg on the scale, or borderless screens elsewhere. Note also that the keyboard is not backlit on this reference.

Inside, we open a screen that deploys a Full HD definition (1920 x 1080 pixels) whose high display density offers all the latitude to view content in High Definition and to benefit from a perfectly sharp image. the naked eye. At the same time, the anti-reflective treatment will play its part of comfort to work in good conditions in a light atmosphere, but we are dealing with a TN panel. Expect narrow angles of approach and not always very accurate colorimetry.

To finish with the study of the case, the connection gains a USB Type-C port in addition to two USB 3.1 ports but loses the SD card reader, it’s curious. There is also a Gigabit Ethernet port, an HDMI output and Wifi ac and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless modules. The keyboard has a numeric keypad and the DVD player is not on the menu for this particular model. For privacy, Lenovo provides a physical cache that covers the webcam when you are not using it, well seen.

Performance, autonomy of the Lenovo IdeaPad L3 15IML05 (81Y30040FR)

The recent Comet Lake processor (10th gen) will be the engine of the Lenovo IdeaPad L3 15IML05 (81Y30040FR). It is a low consumption Core i3-10110U Dual Core which significantly improves performance compared to its predecessor (i3-8145U) thanks to a higher Turbo Boost frequency (4.1 Ghz). In fact, it provides perfect support for current use (web browsing, Office processing, video) and a little mastery in slightly more demanding applications such as video editing, in reasonable proportions, however. The 8 GB RAM ensures comfortable and smooth multitasking.

Next, let’s look at another element of responsiveness inside the laptop: storage. This solution composed of a dedicated 128 GB SSD and a 1000 GB hard drive will be decisive in terms of reactivity. In principle, the SSD will be able to accommodate the operating system and programs while the hard drive takes care of the storage of your toy library, thus ensuring efficient overall execution, rapid on / off phases and copies of data to accelerated flows.

In the absence of a dedicated graphics card inside this ultrabook, the Intel UHD 620 chip integrated into the processor is the only one to handle the processing. It is estimated at the level of a GeForce MX110, which should allow some occasional players to launch some undemanding titles in Full HD with correct fluidity.

Finally, the small battery capacity (36 Whr) of this Lenovo IdeaPad L3 does not really encourage mobility. And for good reason, it will not be able to offer more than 5 hours of autonomy in web browsing with active Wifi. Good point, Lenovo has equipped the PC with RapidCharge technology which allows “to increase the battery from 0 to 80% in less than an hour” so that you can get back to work quickly.

I do not recommend buying this laptop if you are going to use the webcam. The packaging states that the webcam is 720p but in fact it is not. The quality is horrible and you cannot change the resolution either
