The Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 and Lenovo Legion Slim 5i Gen 8 are again 14 and 16-inch gaming laptops built around an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Ada Lovelace graphics card, an Intel Raptor Lake or AMD Ryzen 7000 processor, PCIe 4.0 SSD storage or Wi-Fi 6 and USB-C connectivity, All with a 14 or 16-inch 16/10th screen.
New gaming laptop, the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 14-inch is built around an AMD Ryzen 7000 processor up to the Ryzen 9 7940HS Octo Core Phoenix (35-45W) integrating within it the Radeon 780M graphics part.
The Phoenix is associated with an M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD storage with a maximum capacity of 1 TB but also a maximum RAM of 32 GB DDR5 5600MHz (2 slots).
The core also consists of a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Ada Lovelace graphics card, like the GeForce RTX 4050 6GB GDDR6 (115W, 2370MHz) at most for thin-chassis editions or the GeForce RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6 or GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6 (140W, 2175MHz) for thicker versions.
If it weighs 2.3 Kg in any case, the Lenovo Slim 5 Gen 8 announces itself either with a thin chassis of 359.7 x 260.3 x 17.7-21.9 mm, or with a thicker case of 359.7 x 260.3 x 19.7-25.2 mm.
The AC adapter is a model up to 230W, coupled with a battery up to 80Whr with Super Rapid Charge technology to fully recharge it in 80 minutes.
This versatile laptop offers connectivity – mostly positioned at the back – Wi-Fi 6E ax (2×2, Intel), Bluetooth 5.1, HDMI 2.1, 1 USB 3.2 (Gen2, chargable), 1 USB 3.2 (Gen1) and 2 USB 3.2 Type-C (Gen2) not to mention a 4-in-1 SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC card reader.
The display is entrusted to a 16-inch 16/10th screen with low blue light emission up to IPS 2.5K 240Hz 100% sRGB 500cd / m² DisplayHDR 400.
It hosts above a 720p/1080p e-Shutter HD webcam to preserve privacy.
There are also 2 Nahimic Audio speakers (2 x 2W) and a backlit chiclet keyboard (white or RGB 4 zones) with numeric keypad (1.5 mm stroke).
The new Lenovo Slim 5 Gen 8 is announced for next June from 1549 euros, and this in Storm Grey dark silver and Misty Grey light silver designs.
Later a 14-inch screen edition of the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 will be released from October 2023.
This version will offer an OLED panel option.
The brand will communicate more fully on this model by its release.
In any case it announces its Lenovo Legion Slim 5i Gen 8 16 inches under Intel platform this time, and this for May from 1549 euros.
It stands out from the AMD model by its Intel Raptor Lake Intel Core 13th generation hybrid processor and more specifically Raptor Lake-H (45W) up to the Core i9-13900H with Intel Iris Xe graphics module.
