After Lenovo and Asus , Acer is the next to present its ultrabooks incorporating the new low power Intel Gen11 Tiger Lake processors . But the Taiwanese manufacturer goes even further by announcing its Swift 5 as one of the first laptops to have been tested, tuned and verified to meet the requirements of the Intel Evo platform , an evolution of the Intel Athena project responding to a precise user experience : optimal reactivity, instantaneous wake-up, long-term autonomy and fast charging.
Acer Swift 5 SF514-55 / TA: A lightweight and stylish ultra-portable with antimicrobial properties
Already noticed on the market for its weight close to the kilo, the Acer Swift 5 refines its copy in a vision of ultra-mobility, elegance, robustness and small novelty, hygiene.
Presented in two new colors, Gold and Dark Green, the Swift 5 therefore abandons its blue / gold and white designs of previous generations and sports a new, more geometric silhouette, especially at the level of the contrasting hinge cut in point. The overall design remains minimalist to please the greatest number and seduce lovers of sobriety. We find the chassis in magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminum alloy which achieves the feat of being both resistant and very light (1.0 kg) .
As mentioned above, the Acer Swift 5 SF514-55 is powered by 11th generation Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processors (Tiger Lake) aided by new Iris integrated graphics chips which are based on Intel\’s new Xe architecture . To support them, up to 16 GB of LPPDR4X RAM (soldered) and 1 TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0×4 SSD .
In terms of display, the Swift 5 SF514-55 offers a borderless 14-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 px) IPS multi-touch touch screen covering 100% sRGB. But in addition to the rather new touch function on this non-convertible format, it is distinguished by the addition of an anti-microbial Corning Gorilla 2 glass surface specially formulated to reduce the growth of microorganisms responsible for odors and stains. In addition, on specific models (SF514-55TA), users benefit from total anti-microbial protection : on the touchpad, keyboard and the entire product shell.
We have no further details concerning the other specifications of this Swift 5, in particular for the connections. However, in view of the visuals, it seems that Acer retains the comfortable connectivity of its predecessor with a USB 2.0 (?) Port, a USB 3.2 Type-A port and a USB 3.2 Type-C port which would now support Thunderbolt 4 thanks to to the Tiger Lake update. Question endurance, Acer mentions 17 hours of autonomy to work a day.
The Acer Swift 5 SF514-55 is announced from 1199 euros and for availability in October 2020 .
Acer Swift 3 SF313-53 and Acer Swift 3 SF314-59: Performance and mobility in two versions
While waiting for certain adjustments allowing it to obtain the badge of the Intel Evo platform, the new generation of Acer Swift 3 still receives certification from Intel\’s Project Athena innovation program . We are therefore dealing with fast, user-friendly, powerful and enduring ultrabooks.
Designed to offer a perfect balance between performance and design, the two models of the Acer Swift 3 range are also equipped with the new 11th generation Intel Core i7 or Core i5 processors Tiger Lake supported by up to 16 GB of DDR4 memory and storage M.2 SSD and integrates the latest technologies including Iris Xe graphics and Thunderbolt 4 . Acer does not mention an option with a dedicated graphics card (MX450?) For the 14-inch, whereas it was the case on its predecessor.
Acer also mentions a backlit keyboard , Wifi 6 (802.11 AX) and Windows Hello connection via fingerprint reader.
For specifics, the Acer Swift 3 SF313-53 boosts productivity with a bright 13.5-inch QHD (2256 x 1504 px) display (400 nits) with a 3: 2 aspect ratio for enhanced vertical viewing. which reduces the need to unwind the pages. In addition, the screen covers 100% of the sRGB color space . With up to 18 hours of advertised autonomy , the Swift 3 SF313-53 takes place in a lightweight (1.19 kg) , compact with 15.95 mm thick and robust case with a magnesium-aluminum design, easy to carry everywhere.
For its part, the new Acer Swift 3 SF314-59 has an aluminum chassis and a magnesium-aluminum wrist rest. The visuals show it to us in a metallic pink color (Pink) but there is a good chance that Acer will also opt for a more consensual silver in particular. The very thin edges of the Swift 3 lead to an 82.73% screen-to-body ratio, keeping the focus on the 14-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 px) IPS display. With a weight of 1.2 kg and barely 15.95 mm thick , the Swift 3 also plays the card of mobility.
The Acer Swift 3 SF313-53 will be available in November 2020 from 899 euros . Same date of availability for the Acer Swift 3 SF314-59 for a price starting at 699 euros .
