ASUS tries to develop a gaming-phone for two years now, but according to rumors and official confirmation that we have collected in the last hours, the Taiwanese company is now ready for the launch of its first ASUS ROG Phone . And as you may have already guessed, the official presentation will take place in a couple of weeks at the Computex 2018 in Taipei, where every year Jonney Shih launches entire product lineups (notebooks, desktops and Mini PCs, components, IoT and VR devices) that we will see on the market only after several months.
And this year, in addition to the new ZenBook S , ZenBook Pro and the renewed VivoBook Flip(in fact there are many other new features in the program), we will see the release of the first ASUS gaming smartphone . We have no technical information on the device, we do not know the product code nor its design, but we can make some evaluations starting exactly from the slide appeared in the report on the financial results of ASUS for the last quarter.
The smartphone will belong to the ROG family (Republic of Gamers), a brand that has always been linked to ASUS gaming products, and will certainly have a different design from ZenFone. We expect a terminal with a sporty and aggressive look , made of taut lines and bold colors, probably with some RGB LEDs in plain sight. The Taiwanese company claims that its ROG Phone “will redefine the gaming experience” on the move and we do not have much doubt, not least because ASUS is not the first company to enter this sector.
Razer Phone was a trailblazer, but in the following months Nubia Red Magic and Xiaomi Black Shark also arrived for all videogames fans. ASUS ROG Phone would thus be the fourth gaming smartphone on the market, but perhaps the only one that can be marketed worldwide (and we hope so). We do not expect dizzying technical specifications, but we are sure that this new terminal will have a very powerful SoC (maybe a Snapdragon 845? ), A screen with the form factor roughly standard but with a higher refresh rate (120Hz?) And of course an audio compartment dedicated and perhaps signed by some industry giant.
The appointment is therefore set for the next Computex 2018, scheduled from 5 to 9 June. We will be there, as always in the front row, but you are not lacking. Big surprises are expected!
