Chassis, connectors, Dell Inspiron 15 3501-574 screen
Thin and light, this Ultrabook has a discreet look with its black color.
Its connectivity is below average, including a practical HDMI video output for easy connection to a TV or monitor, for example, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless modules for remote connections and communications, Ethernet ports and audio as well as 3 USBs all compatible with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 guaranteeing transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if you connect USB 3.0 peripherals.
But no USB-C ports while Ethernet adopts the Fast standard (10/100) while Gigabit (10/100/1000) has been the standard for several years and we could have found more recent Wi-Fi ax and efficient.
In addition, the chiclet keyboard is not equipped with a backlighting solution to better distinguish its keys in the dark.
The screen will be of interest to fans of High Definition content such as videos because it adopts a precise Full HD definition as well as a 16: 9 format. Thanks to its anti-reflective treatment, the screen is also more readable than a shiny panel in a bright environment (eg outdoors).
Performance, battery life of Dell Inspiron 15 3501-574
This Dell Inspiron 15 3501-574 is a low-key 15-inch High Definition laptop designed for everyday general-purpose use.
The general services that it delivers, good, are indeed able to suit a number of users because it is structured around a good amount of RAM of 16 GB higher than the average very useful in multitasking but also of an Intel i7-1165G7 Quad Core low power Tiger Lake processor.
In addition, it integrates the Iris Xe (which we tested) , a graphics solution clearly superior to the traditional Intel UHD 620.
As a result, with this discreet black Ultrabook, you can look at photos and videos of course, but also play titles that are not too greedy in graphic resources.
However, we will rather opt for a PC equipped with a non-low consumption processor and / or an adequate dedicated graphics card if our project is to often carry out work that requires processor and / or graphics resources.
On the storage side, Dell has chosen an SSD which is silent but also less energy consuming than a hard drive, more resistant to shocks and much faster.
Concretely, the SSD clearly reinforces the responsiveness and fluidity on a daily basis compared to a simple hard drive. Thus, thanks to the SSD, we benefit, for example, from much faster software launches, processing and starts / stops, or even faster arrival on the cards of online games.
If we are dealing with an SSD offering a capacity of 512 GB similar to standard hard drives, it may be too tight for some.
In this case, we have the possibility of using an external storage unit such as a USB 3.0 device to obtain fast transfers.
As for battery life, bet on about 5 hours on battery in light use for this versatile Ultrabook whose low weight and thinness facilitate transport.
