Chassis, connectors, screen of this Dell Inspiron 15 3501
With its black design, this versatile Ultrabook has an understated look.
Thin and light, this laptop PC is equipped with a standard connection consisting of a useful HDMI video output in order to easily connect it to a TV or a monitor, for example, wireless Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 5.0 modules for remote connections and communications, Ethernet and audio ports but also 3 USBs all compatible with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 guaranteeing transfers made up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if USB peripherals 3.0 are connected to it.
However, we regret that Ethernet adopts the Fast (10/100) standard and not Gigabit (10/100/1000) which has been the standard for several years. We can also deplore the lack of USB-C connectivity and the more recent and efficient Wi-Fi ax (Wi-Fi 6).
Lovers of videos and more generally of High Definition content will appreciate the 16: 9 format and the precise Full HD definition. As it is anti-reflective, the screen also offers better visibility in a bright environment (eg outdoors) than a shiny panel.
Performance, battery life of this Dell Inspiron 15 3501
This Dell Inspiron 15 3501 is a discreet 15-inch High Definition laptop designed for everyday general-purpose use.
As it incorporates a good amount of 8 GB RAM, which is appreciable in multitasking, as well as an Intel low-power Quad Core i7-1165G7 Tiger Lake processor, this black Ultrabook delivers good overall performance.
As a bonus, it is able to run games that do not consume too much graphics resources while allowing to watch photos and videos. And this thanks to the performance of the Iris Xe solution (which we tested) integrated into the Core i7, significantly superior to those of the classic Intel UHD 620.
On the storage side, there is a 512 GB SSD, a capacity in phase with the standard of hard drives.
Of course, if you need additional space, you can rely on an external storage unit. Favoring a USB 3.0 device then represents an interesting option for obtaining fast transfers.
In any case, an SSD offers several advantages compared to a hard drive: silence, reduced energy savings, greater robustness and greater speed.
Thanks to the SSD, we benefit in particular from much faster starts / stops as well as the launches of applications and treatments, or even a faster arrival on the cards of online games.
More generally, an SSD provides much better fluidity and responsiveness on a daily basis than a hard drive.
As for the battery life of this discreet versatile Ultrabook whose transport is facilitated by the finesse and the controlled weight, expect about 5 hours on battery in light use.
