Dell is introducing a new business-oriented laptop with a next generation Coffee Lake processor that offers the choice between Windows 10 and Linux Ubuntu, the 15-inch Dell Precision 3530.
The new Dell Precision 3530 laptop with a 4-cell 68Whr battery (optional 6-cell 92Whr model) measures 376 x 250.65 x 24.30 mm and weighs 2.03 Kg.
Many people will appreciate the fact that it is offered with either a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit or UbuntuLinux 16.04, the latter option reducing the price of 103.89 euros.
As standard, for 1222.88 euros excluding VAT, this laptop runs on Windows 10 Pro with a latest generation Coffee Lake Quad Core i5-8300H processor (2.3 GHz, Intel UHD 630), 4 GB DDR4 2666 MHz RAM, a hard disk of 500 Go at 7200 rpm, a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P600 4GB GDDR5 dedicated graphics card , a 15.6-inch anti-glare WXGA HD display (1366×768).
Connectivity side, there is a card reader, Wi-Fi ac modules (Intel Wireless AC 9560, 2×2), Bluetooth 5.0 and 4G / LTE (optional, SIM card slot), video outputs HDMI 2.0 and VGA, ports Gigabit Ethernet and Headphone audio, 1 USB 3.1 (Gen1, PowerShare), 1 USB 3.1 (Gen1) and 1 USB 3.1 Type-C(Gen2, Thunderbolt 3 optional).
The Dell Precision 3530 also benefits from a backlit chiclet keyboard with numeric keypad, touchpad and trackpoint as well as a fingerprint reader (Windows Hello compatible). It is however without a webcam as standard (but has a microphone).
Several options are available in addition to switching to Ubuntu, including Coffee Lake processor side: Quad Core i5-8400H (2.5 GHz), Hexa Core i7-8750H (2.2 GHz), Hexa Core i7-8850H (2.6 GHz) or Hexa Core Xeon E -2176M (2.7 GHz).
One can also opt for 8/16/32 GB DDR4 2666 MHz of RAM, a 4G Qualcomm Snapdragon module , a WXGA HD screen with webcam or Full HD (1920×1080) touch (glossy) or not (anti-glare) with classic webcam or infrared or another 6-cell battery.
Storage side, we can opt for 1 or 2 units of hard drive type (hybrid or not) or SSD.
Thus, a Dell Precision 3530 with Coffee Lake Hexa Core i7-8750H, 16GB DDR4, SSD M.2 (NVMe) 256GB 1TB hard drive at 7200rpm, 4G module, Full HD anti-glare screen and battery 6 cells under Windows 10 returns for example to 1959.33 euros HT.
