The Apple MacBook Air 2020 arrives on the market, a new colorful Ultrabook built around an Intel Ice Lake processor.
The new Apple MacBook Air 2020 ultraportable is announced in Silver, Space Gray and Gold (rosé).
It weighs 1.29 Kg and measures 304 x 212 x 4.1- 16.1mm and is therefore thinner than its 2019 predecessor.
Connectivity side, there are Bluetooth 5 wireless modules and Wi-Fi ac (Wi-Fi 5 ), an audio port and 2 USB 3.1 Type-C (Gen2) Thunderbolt 3 .
Also on the program for this new computer, a biometric Touch ID reader controlled by an Apple T2 chip with Secure Enclave coprocessor (but no Touch Bar), a large Force Touch trackpad as well as the latest Magic Keyboard scissor keyboard as expected , obviously with key backlight system .
On the display side, the Apple MacBook Air 2020 is adorned with a 13.3 inch IPS Retina (2560×1600) DCI-P3 True Tone screen.
The Apple firm points out that for the first time, the MacBook Air supports an external screen adopting a definition up to 6K .
The announced autonomy is between 11 and 12 hours under macOS with the built-in 49.9Whr battery, slightly weaker than that of the 2019 edition (50.3Whr).
It is announced from 1199 euros with an Intel Ice Lake low-consumption Dual Core i3 processor (1.1 GHz, Turbo 3.2 GHz) with Iris Plus Graphics G4 graphics solution, 8 GB LPDDR4X 3733MHz and 256 GB SSD storage, i.e. twice as much than the 2019 version which was content with a small 128 GB.
Apple ensures that the use of Ice Lake allows to obtain a doubled processor performance and an increase of 80% in graphics.
For 1499 euros , we switch to an Ice Lake Quad Core i5 (1.1 GHz, 3.5 GHz), still with Iris Plus Graphics. No more RAM unfortunately but the SSD goes to 512 GB .
Several configuration options are provided, such as an Ice Lake Quad Core i7 processor (1.2 GHz, 3.8 GHz) for an additional 80 euros, 16 GB of RAM ( 250 euros), 1 TB SSD ( 250 euros) and 2 TB SSD ( 750 euros).
With the bigger options, the price of the new Apple MacBook Air 2020 climbs to 2,579 euros .
