As expected on October 12, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 and Microsoft Surface Pro 9 have been formalized and their specifications announced. On the program touch screen up to 2.8K 120Hz, Intel Alder Lake processor, SSD storage or Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity.
Convertible into a tablet, the Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is available in Microsoft Surface Pro 9 5G edition with 5G module that relies on a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 SoC (System-on-Chip) processor.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 edition itself consists of a multi-touchscreen/tablet part and an optional Surface Pro Signature backlit detachable chiclet keyboard.
The Tablet part consists of a 13-inch touch screen in 3:2 format of 2.8K (2880×1920) displaying a maximum frequency of 120Hz.
Optionally a Surace Slim Pen 2 stylus is provided.
It is built around an Intel Alder Lake processor and more precisely Alder Lake-U low consumption: Core i5-1235U (10 cores: 2P 1.3 GHz, 8E 0.9 GHz), Core i5-1245U vPro (10 cores: 2P 1.6 GHz, 8E 1.2 GHz), Core i7-1255U (10 cores: 2P 1.7 GHz, 8E 1.2 GHz) or Core i7-1265U vPro (10 cores: 2P 1.8 GHz, 8E 1.3 GHz).
All of them integrate directly the Iris Xe graphics module.
The Alder Lake is paired with 8/16/32GB LPDDR4x 4266MHz (16GB max for 5G edition) as well as 128/256/512GB or 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD storage (512GB max for 5G version).
The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 also has 6-ax Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, headphone/mic combo audio and 2 USB-C Thunderbolt 4 as well as a Snapdragon X20 LTE/5G eSIM module for the 5G edition.
Also part are 2 speakers (2 x 2W) Dolby Atmos, a rear webcam 10 megapixels (1080p, 4K) and a 5 mepixel infrared webcam front allowing biometric authentication by facial recognition via Windows Hello technology.
Expected in Platinum (silver, only option for the 5G version), Graphite (anthracite), Forrest (green) or Sapphire (blue) designs, the Microsoft Surface Pro 9 offers an announced battery life of 16 hours under Windows 11 (Pro) with its 50.2Whr battery.
It weighs 1.96 Kg with keyboard stand and 891 grams in single tablet version, and measures 287 x 208.3 x 9.5 mm.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 is only expected with Intel Alder Lake-U processors, its standard capacity starting at 256 GB.
It also stands out for its touch screen in 3:2 format certainly but a definition 2.2K (2256×1504) Gorrilla Glass 3 PixelSense in 13.5-inch version.
The 15-inch edition is adorned with a touch screen in 3:2 format with a higher definition 2.5K (2496×1664) Gorrilla Glass 5 PixelSense.
Real laptop and not convertible into a tablet, it offers a connection a little more provided with 1 classic USB port as a bonus and is announced in Black and Platinum design.
Equipped with Quad Omnisonic Dolby Atmos speakers, it offers an announced autonomy of 19 hours in its compact 13.5-inch version which measures 308 x 223 x 14.22 mm which weighs 1,288 Kg in Metal version against 1,265 Kg with an Alcantara (Platinum) finish.
Its base rate is 1000 dollars.
The autonomy announced “falls” at 17:30 in 15-inch edition more comfortable 1,542 Kg in Metal version which measures 339.5 x 244 x 14.5 mm.
