Huawei AI Cube, Wireless speaker equipped with Alexa and 4G router!

Huawei took advantage of the IFA 2018 to lift the veil on the amazing Huawei AI Cube a wireless speaker that looks like Google Home but is equipped with Amazon Alexa, the intelligent vocal assistant of Echo. Small peculiarity of this speaker: it can also serve as a 4G router! Explanations.

Huawei unveils AI Cube, a connected speaker equipped with Alexa that also serves as a 4G router!

Design side, the speaker does not revolutionize the genre at all. Given his name, we would have appreciated an object that is really a cube. On the contrary, there is a rounded construction reminiscent of the standard Google Home and the Amazon Echo. Like the latter, the AI Cube integrates Alexa and all related features, such as skills.

“Combining the cutting-edge Huawei technologies with those of Amazon Alexa, HUAWEI AI Cube is a captivating device that will certainly charm consumers,” Huawei’s CEO promises. The AI Cube is not only dedicated to home automation or listening to music. The speaker also serves as a 4G router !

” Just plug in a 4G SIM card to establish a high-speed internet connection,” says Huawei. There is indeed a Cat 4G LTE modem. 6 which offers a bitrate of 300 Mb / s and Wi-Fi 802.11ac at 1200 Mb / s, in 2.4 and 5 GHz. The AI Cube is available in two colors: gray or red.

” HUAWEI AI Cube combines several products in one, while combining intelligent features and superior sound,” concludes Daniel Rausch, Vice President of Alexa. The AI Cube will be available soon at all Huawei authorized retail outlets. For the moment, no price has been advanced by the Chinese brand. We can expect a pricing similar to the standard Google Home (which costs 149 €) . What do you think of this AI Cube? Is it more appealing than Echo speakers or Google Home?

Hard to say for now if the success will be at the rendezvous for this accessory that seems to target a niche audience. A priori, AI Cube would not be marketed in Belgium, which is never very good sign … It will be interesting to follow how Huawei will continue to invest in this sector that many believe strategic, which is currently widely dominated by Amazon and Google.
